Tallmadge Blue Devils Triumph Over Revere 8-3

Tallmadge Blue Devils outsted the Revere Minutemen 8-3 on Friday at Tallmadge High School.

Revere opened the scoring in the first after Rebecca Gayner singled, scoring one run.

Tallmadge took the lead in the bottom of the first. Ashlyn Severns singled, scoring two runs, to give the Blue Devils the upper hand, 2-1.

Tallmadge added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Sydney Becks singled, Lexi Gray doubled, and Severns singled, each scoring one run.

Riley Jackson earned the win for the Blue Devils. She gave up seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking four. Ashley Gardner took the loss for Revere. The reliever went six innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on nine hits, striking out one and walking two.

Leila Staszak, Becks, and Severns each collected two hits for Tallmadge. Gray, Severns, and Marissa Charton each drove in two runs for the Blue Devils. Staszak and Becks each stole multiple bases for Tallmadge. The Blue Devils ran wild on the base paths, collecting seven stolen bases for the game. Tallmadge did not commit a single error. Payton Almond had the most chances in the field with six.

Gayle Mishic provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Revere with two runs batted in. She went 2-for-4 on the day.
