Springfield Wrestling 2013/2014

 
These open mats are K-12? Hmm...only a few more weeks until youth football is over and my son just might be there.
 
Any thought on how the team will look this year. Only lost 1 senior last year. Jr Hi looks like there might be some ringers coming back into the system!! Are things looking up for Springfield?
 
Don't know much about that other winter sport that involves playing with balls but wrestling starts today!!!
 
Jr high team wrestled at the Manchester duals on Saturday. 3 champs and two of them didn't allow a point scored against them in 5 matches.
 
High School group started out rough at the Marlington duals. Most of the guys are still up a weight from where they'll want to be. Gave up 3 forfeits on Friday and 4 on Saturday. Without the forfeits they would have beat Timken, Hubbard and Glenoak. They lost by 5 or less to each of them. Hoban had a partial squad and the Spartans took care of business on the mat as well and beat them by about 20.
All in all there was a lot of improvement on the weekend. PTC duals start Thursday against Kent and Ravenna
 
This Tuesday at 430 Springfield Jr high hosts Crestwood and field in our only home dual of the season. We have a few very good Jr high wrestlers and a couple state/national ranked wrestlers. Come on out and support the little Spartans

This dual has been moved to Thursday at 4. We will precede the high school dual.

High school beat field head to head but lost by 5 because of forfeits, lost to Crestwood by quite a few.
jr high beat field with half of a team and beat Crestwood head to head but lost because of forfeits.
 
Springfield had 4 forfeits to 1 for Field. 42-35 final score. So head to head it would have been 29-18 Springfield.
 
Was at Springfield's new school Saturday, I must say its gigantic and unbelievable. You can watch the games as you sit in the cafeteria and in line at concession.
