Severns Drives 6 Runners Home In Tallmadge Blue Devils Victory Over Kent Roosevelt

Ashlyn Severns drove in six runs on three hits to lead Tallmadge past Kent Roosevelt 23-0 on Wednesday at Tallmadge High School. Ashlyn Severns hit a home run to center field in the third scoring three, doubled in the first scoring two, and singled in the first scoring one.

Riley Jackson struck out 12 batters on the day. The righty also surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings while walking one.

Tallmadge jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Katie Huth grounded out, scoring one run, Ashlyn Severns doubled, scoring two runs, Payton Almond singled, scoring one run, Leila Staszak doubled, scoring three runs, Lexi Gray singled, scoring one run, and Ashlyn Severns singled, scoring one run.

Tallmadge scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning. Leila Staszak singled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, another error scored one run, and Payton Almond doubled, scoring one run. The Blue Devils scored seven runs on five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Danielle Charton singled, scoring one run, Randall Voss doubled, scoring two runs, Ashlyn Severns homered to center field, scoring three runs, and Bond singled, scoring one run.

Brynn Moser took the loss for Roosevelt. She allowed 13 hits and 20 runs (four earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking two. Katlyn Ciolek relieved Moser in the third inning. She went one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits, striking out two and walking none.

Tallmadge piled up 18 hits in the game. Leila Staszak, Lexi Gray, Sydney Becks, Randall Voss, Payton Almond, and Kathryn Headrick each collected multiple hits for the Blue Devils. Tallmadge didn't commit a single error in the field. Lexi Gray had the most chances in the field with seven.

Avery Gates went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Roosevelt in hits. Next up for Tallmadge is a game at Copley on Thursday.
