Softball Oak Hills Wins 9-5 Over Sycamore

Oak Hills was victorious against Sycamore on Monday by a 9-5 score.

Oak Hills was the first to get on the board when Payton Veneman singled, scoring one run.

Sycamore took the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Kaitlyn Gambaccini doubled, Alex Davis grounded out and Oak Hills committed an error, each scoring one run.

In the top of the second inning, Oak Hills took the lead after Emma Messinger singled and the Highlanders scored on a wild pitch. Sycamore then committed two errors, each scoring a run.

The Highlanders added to their lead with two more runs in the top of the seventh in with home runs by Sasha Emmrich and Julia Abbot.

Veneman stepped into the circle first for the Highlanders. The starting pitcher gave up four hits and three runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Annaliese Szabo pitched four innings in relief for Oak Hills. The reliever gave up three hits and two runs while striking out eight. Alex Davis started for the Aviators surrendering 11 hits and nine runs (seven earned) over 7 innnigs, striking out four and walking three.

Oak Hills piled up 11 hits in the game. Veneman led with two RBIs. Emmrich, Abbot, and Gretchen Hanson each collected two hits.

Allie Borregard led the Sycamores with two RBIs, batting 1-for2 on the day. Audrey Thomas, Lindsey Stephenson, Ava Andolina, Gabby Chamness, Maddy Friedersdorf, Borregard, and Gambaccini each had a hit for the Aviators.
