Leila Staszak Leads Tallmadge Blue Devils Past Barberton

Leila Staszak collected three hits in four at bats, as Tallmadge Blue Devils defeated Barberton 13-0 on Monday. Staszak singled in the first inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fifth inning

Tallmadge got on the board in the top of the first inning after Lexi Gray grounded out, Ashlyn Severns singled, and Danielle Charton singled, each scoring one run.

The Blue Devils added one run in the second. Gray grounded out, making the score 4-0.

Tallmadge added one run in the third after Marissa Charton singled.

Riley Jackson earned the win for Tallmadge. The righty surrendered one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out five and walking none. Cassie Moore took the loss for Barberton. The starting pitcher went four and one-third innings, allowing nine runs (seven earned) on 12 hits, striking out four and walking none. Larissa Taylor tossed two innings of zero-run ball for the Blue Devils in relief. The righty allowed zero hits, striking out three and walking none.

Tallmadge collected 17 hits in the game. Gray provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Blue Devils with three runs batted in. Charton and Staszak each collected three hits for Tallmadge. Severns, Kathryn Headrick, Payton Almond, and Sydney Becks each collected multiple hits for the Blue Devils. Tallmadge ran wild on the base paths, amassing four stolen bases for the game. Staszak and Becks each stole multiple bases. Tallmadge turned one double play in the game. The Blue Devils were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Gray had the most chances in the field with eight.
