Copley Indians Firing On All Cylinders Against Highland Hornets

Copley Indians easily dispatched Highland Hornets on Monday, 10-2.

Highland opened the scoring in the first after Elsa Riedy singled, scoring one run.

A home run to left field by Jayce Collins gave Copley the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.

Mackenzie Hayes singled, which helped Highland tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.

Copley took the lead in the top of the fourth. Morgan Beach doubled, scoring two runs, to give the Indians the advantage, 4-2.

Stella Kaplack earned the win for Copley. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two. Ashley Brewster opened the game for Highland. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and four runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking two.

Copley tallied 12 hits in the game. Alexis Walker led the Indians with four hits in five at bats. Beach and Allison Martz each drove in three runs for Copley. Sydney Leach collected two hits in five at bats. Scarlett Backus paced the Indians with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating six walks for the game.

Emily Miller went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Highland in hits. Riedy and Hayes each drove in one run for the Hornets. Highland turned one double play in the game.
