Big Fourth Inning Leads Tallmadge Past Barberton 11-1

Tallmadge Blue Devils defeated Barberton 11-1 on Thursday at Tallmadge High School thanks in part to six runs in the fourth inning. Lexi Gray doubled, scoring two runs, Payton Almond singled, scoring one run, Kathryn Headrick grounded out, scoring one run, Aubrey Almond doubled, scoring one run, and Larissa Taylor singled, scoring one run.

Barberton was the first to get on the board in the second when Natalie Snider hit a solo home run to left field.

In the bottom of the second inning, Tallmadge went back into the lead after Almond singled, Taylor grounded out, Leila Staszak singled, and Sydney Becks doubled, each scoring one run.

Ashlyn Severns hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the third for the Blue Devils.

Taylor earned the win for Tallmadge. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and one run over five innings, striking out eight and walking one. Alexys Anzaldi took the loss for Barberton. The starting pitcher went three and one-third innings, allowing nine runs on 10 hits, striking out none and walking one.

Tallmadge piled up 13 hits in the game. The Blue Devils's Aubrey Almond made the most of their chances at the plate. The number seven hitter led the team with three hits in three at bats. Gray, Taylor, and A. Almond each drove in two runs for Tallmadge Varsity Blue Devils. Payton Almond, Aubrey Almond, Becks, and Severns each collected multiple hits for the Blue Devils. Staszak stole two bases.

Snider led Barberton with one run batted in. She went 1-for-2 on the day. Alexys Anzaldi, Elizabeth Scott, Emma Velloney, Snider, and Sierra Arthur each collected one hit for Barberton.
