Bomber Passing Game

O’Malley is now getting all practice snaps (Herbstreit splitting JV game time with Soloria)
O’Malley 3 Game Stats: 46 for 79 (58%) for 677 yards 7 TDs 1 INT and 6 sacks

Receiving: Sharp 15 for 315, McClatchey 5 for 99, Fitzgerald 5 for 81, Weber 7 for 66, Wassler 5 for 41, Napier 5 for 24
Nicholson 1 for 21, Mason 1 for 18, Griesser 1 for 10 and Klare 1 for 2

The receivers have only dropped 2 passes in 3 games. Look for O’Malley to improve completion % by 5 to 10 percentage points.
TE position….combined they have only 7 catches for 53 yards.
Production from the TE position has been a Coverdale staple in his first 3 seasons.

Bomber Rushing Game

Napier 60 for 212 yards (3.5ypc)
O’Malley 22 for 47 yards (2.1 ypc) and 1 TD
Patrick 14 for 44 yards (3.1 ypc)
Rivers 4 for 2 yards (0.5ypc)

With Patrick and Rose out Napier and O’Malley are the only productive runners.
Senior Jack DeCurtins (6’2” 200lb) has been getting practice reps.
Ben Lehman (5’10” 177lb), the leading rusher on JV, is one of 7 sophomores on the varsity roster.

Bomber DLine
Junior LE Ted Hammond (9 tackles), senior NG Antony Morris (7 tackles, 1.5 sacks) and junior Justin Kattus (6 tackles)
A pair of underclassmen, junior Nate Brice (3 tackles) and sophomore Gordy Sulfsted (6’4” 222lb), continue to get reps

Bomber LBs
Juniors Noah Beck (23 tackles and 2.5 sacks) and Alex Devine (28 tackles and 1 INT) lead this group.

With senior PJ Rose (15 tackles) injured early in the LA game and out indefinitely, Beck has moved inside and junior Guy Folke (13 tackles and 2 sacks) looks good on the outside.

The staff is considering swapping positions for senior Max Bonner (16 tackles) and Folke moving Bonner from adjuster back to LB where he led the team in tackles last season.

Bomber Safeties
Senior Nolan Myers has been excellent through 3 games (14 tackles, 1 INT, 4 PBUP)
Sophomore Lucas Bishop added to the starting lineup in week 3, recorded 6 tackles (1 for loss) and 1 INT.
Max Bonner (16 tackles) may be moving to LB position to make room for Guy Folke in the secondary
Sophomore Shane Strayhorn is getting more practice reps and may make his varsity debut in week 4 vs Penn

Bomber Corners
Senior Robert Houston (13 tackles and 1 INT for a TD) moved to CB from safety in Week 3 is splitting time between safety and corner.
The other corners in the rotation are senior Bless Sparks (2 tackles), junior Macen Hall (5 tackles) and junior Brady Bennett (2 tackles)

Then just 3 days later they take on Trinity at RDI stadium Saturday (9/10) at 11am.

Was at freshman game, it was more white than blue. Blue team played maybe a quarter and then it was the white team for the remainder of the game. Lost 13-7, but could have blown Edgewood out the water if the blue team played the whole game

They play Trinity on Saturday so just wanted Blue to get in a quarter of work.
The difference in talent from Blue to White is stark - not because White is bad, just that Blue is that good.
Watched the first quarter which was 2 defensive stands led by the front 6, especially Bareswilt, Carter and Betz.
Sandwiched between that was the offense's 8 play 5 minute drive culminating in D. Vollmer's 16 yard TD dash down the right sideline.
From the drive: McDonald 4 carries for 18 yards, Reilly 1 carry for 6 yards and Vollmer 2 passes to Cam Taylor for 45 yards (20 + 25).
Trinity this Saturday is at RDI at 11am and expect the Blue to play most if not all of the game.
The question is when the frosh season ends October 5th, how many of the Blue players join varsity for the last 3 games of the regular season and the playoff run?

Bombers Special Teams
Junior PK Jake Cengia is 3 for 3 on FGs (19, 24 and 30) and 8/9 PATs
Above average KO returner in Robert Houston and punt returner in Drew Weber: 5 for 64 yards (long 20, 11)
Senior Liam Miller’s has 15 kickoffs with average of 45 yards/kickoff. 1 kick reached the end zone vs Liberty for touchback
Senior Mathias Clark has been booming punts in practice and pre-game and halftime warmups.
However game numbers are 15 punts for 401 yards (26.7)…he can get that up to near 40 by season’s end

Not sure of the status of Fleetwood and Rose for tomorrow's game.
Juniors Andrew Jennings (OL 6'3" 225lb) and Gus Folke (DB/LB 5'11" 178lb) played well in their absence.
Folke (10 tackles, 2 sacks and 2 tackles for loss) will probably be in the secondary vs Penn as it looks like Bonner will move back to OLB (Jet) where he led the team in tackles last season.

Punting was still not great, and two OB kickoffs were tough, but definitely some bright spots finally on Special Teams.

Offense continuing to improve and defense generally was much better with Bonner at LB. Really seemed to free up Devine more, and finally some pressure. Big test next week.

Kind of surprising, X is usually pretty solid at Special Teams.

Yeah, it's been rough to watch. The long time ST coach left over the summer, and the three year starting kicker and punter are gone as well. They returned a punt for a TD and blocked another last night, but otherwise it was not good.

Sharp was not on the field for a decent part of the game, hopefully no injury

X QB had some decent spiral passes Friday night... maybe the OC and the QB have been making some progress, collaborating on his throwing/release?

Sharp was not on the field for a decent part of the game, hopefully no injury
For some reason he didn't play until the 3rd offensive series which was late in the 1st quarter
He looked fine and was only targeted only once, catching a short pass that was nullified by a penalty.
He didn't play in the second half.
