Historical Miniature Gaming

I have been into board games and gaming in general for as long as I can remember.
What I really loved though since playing games as a very young kid is any kind of game that uses miniatures.
Probably the first miniatures that fascinated me was the cannon, soldiers and horse in Risk.
Since then I have painted miniature for wargames from Ancient Greece to WW2.
So throwing this out there to see if an else has this intrest.

Does that include chess? When I was younger, they had several sets come out that I really wanted but were a bit too expensive.

I have painted up a couple chess sets.. Yea ones that have intricate miniatures for chess pieces..
I dont play much chess.. not that is not interesting, it just takes a lot of time to be half way decent at the game.
