Id put SH above CW as they stomped them. CW did beat MSML but the Flyers just didn't come out ready but when they started to play outscored them 20-6 so I would keep MSML at 2.

Its really Kirtland and then everyone else if you want to get down to it.

5 of the top 10 all from R21, 4 of the top 10 from R24...so only 1 total from R22 and R23 combined...

Would be surprising to see something other than a R21 vs R24 final. If the weather is bad, it could be advantage St. Henry in region 24. Marion Local has been error prone in bad weather this year. Coldwater would probably prefer a fast track as well.

I think it's great that R24 is loaded with good teams. ML will probably win this week and then I won't have to travel far to see a great contest when the Flyers likely face LCC in week 12.

And a ML-SH ... or ML-CW ... regional final could occur and I'm looking forward to that too.

Poll is as accurate as you can get until someone proves they can knock off Kirtland or the MAC. I think you can interchange the top 4 with Mogadore always the bridesmaid at #5 ..... and I'm a Cats fan.

This should be a great Division to watch this playoffs. A sleeper team in this division is Norwayne. They beat a very good DIII - Norwalk earlier this year. Obvious favorites are Kirtland, ML, and CW. But still will be an exciting year of playoffs for D-VI.

1. Maria Stein Marion Local (9-1 D6 R24)
2. St Henry (8-2 D6 R24)
3. Coldwater (8-2 D6 R24)
4. Kirtland (10-0 D6 R21)
5. Mogadore (9-1 D6 R21)
6. Creston Norwayne (9-1 D6 R21)
7. McDonald (10-0 D6 R21)
8. Rootstown (9-1 D6 R21)
9. New Middletown Springfield (9-1 D6 R21)
10. Fort Recovery (4-6 D6 R24)

Here is Drew Pastuers top 10 for comparison. Seems to me Drew underrates Kirtland, as I would probably have them at #1.

Says the guys who posted this on the LCC vs Lucas thread a few days back...

"LCC is the best team in the region and the DVI crown comes down to them or Kirtland."

LCC lost to Lucas and they are out of consideration?

I would put Kirtland #1 also, but depending how much weight you give to strength of schedule an argument can certainly be made for a 9--1 MAC team. I think most would agree Marion Local and some other MAC teams would be 10-0 against Kirtland's schedule. Kirtland may have gone unbeaten against a MAC schedule this year, but that is much less certain.

And Springfield didn't even make the playoffs!!!! Region 21 and 24 shake ups need to occur!

Is Fort Recovery really 4-6 and sitting at # 10 on his poll?

To put a little perspective on that. Ft Recovery's 6 loses where all MAC league games, of those the only team they lost to that did not make the playoffs was New Bremen who finished in the 9th spot in region 28.

I feel fairly confident you could drop Ft Recovery or New Bremen in the middle of many other regions in their divisions playoff brackets and they would not embarrass themselves.

The good about FR: Beat a D4 VV team who wasn't a playoff team this year, but have been recently.
Beat Lehman, a playoff team.

The Bad:
The loss to NB. That should leave them out of a top 10

I get the MAC connection, but why do we play the game each week if the losses do not matter? I'm also not saying they aren't a decent team, as their schedule has to be ridiculously tough, but allow some deserving teams to get some notoriety, rather than just lump FR in there because they're in the MAC.

I mean they didn't make the playoffs, so I'm not sure what more you want? His rankings are just to show who would beat who, not who is the most deserving.

His rankings are based solely on a mathematical formula having to do with the scores and strength of schedule. No opinions involved.

I'm simply saying I disagree...I think FR is getting MAC bias, that's all...just a general discussion and observation. However, who would beat who is synonymous with most deserving, IMO. But, none of that matters in his polls, its all an algorithm.

They are.

4-6 and losing to NB should keep them out.

If they went 5-5 with those 2 OOC wins then maybe if they were still in D7, but not in DVI.

The MAC bias ?

According to Drew's rankings of toughest schedules for each division state wide, the 10 MAC teams rank as follows

Division 5
1 Anna
4 Versailles

Division 6
1 Coldwater
2 Parkway
3 Ft Recovery
4 Marion Local
5 St Henry

Division 7
1 Delphos St Johns
2 Minster
4 New Bremen

Just for grins, Calpreps projects that hypothetical game results would be
Ft Recovery 28 New Middletown Springfield 24

Again by Calpreps
if Ft Recovery played New Middletown Springfields schedule on neutral fields would go 10 - 0
if New Middletown Springfield played Ft Recovery's schedule on neutral fields would go 3 - 7

Once again, not a MAC fan ... but a realist. You can't argue with them until you beat them on a regular basis ... and NO ONE has done that in quite a while. Kirtland is at that level, but no one else in D6 can match that conference yet. Believe me, I constantly hope my Mogadore Wildcats can figure out why the MAC teams are so consistently good and can find a way to take that extra step. It took a super human effort for us to beat a MAC school for a title way back in '96, but we've been thrashed by them ever since. All the other schools need to find a way to beat them ... or we should just be quiet.

I was surprised last year when Mogadore nearly knocked Kirtland out of the playoffs. It sounds like Kirtland has taken a big step forward this year which makes those of us on the western side take notice. Is Mogadore better than last year also? Sounds like they may have to be to challenge Kirtland again.

Mogadore is pretty much the same. They are very good ... maybe the 5th or 6th best in D6. Pass defense still struggles at times. My realistic prediction is a fairly comfortable win in Round 1, a toss-up game in Round 2, and another exit in Round 3 to Kirtland if the Cats can win the 2nd round game. (Facing Rootstown in a rematch on a dry fast field might be a different story than the week 10 game). We will always be good ... always hoping they take that next step.
