Article: Cold Shooting on a Cold Night: Bellbrook 47, Oakwood 34
Both the Oakwood Lumberjacks and Bellbrook Golden Eagles looked rusty Friday night after the holiday break. Both sides suffered through numerous turnovers and lukewarm shooting during their matchup in Bellbrook’s gym, with the Eagles prevailing in the end, 47-34.
Bellbrook led by three at the end of the first quarter, in spite of a 3-point basket at the buzzer by Oakwood’s Jackson Diodoardo. Poor shooting by both sides continued in the second quarter, and Bellbrook held a slight lead at the half, 17-16.
The lead see-sawed throughout the third quarter, but Bellbrook began to pull away with 3 minutes remaining in the game, when Sam Banke hit a 3 for what would be Oakwood’s final points of the game. The Jacks sent numerous Eagles to the free throw line in the final minutes, with Doug Rasch, Josh Rogers, and Jackson Jabir combining for 7 points from the charity stripe.
Oakwood was led by Bradley Carlson with 14. Max Banke added 5, Joey Murphy and Patrick Ireland 4 each, Sam Banke and Jackson Diodoardo 3 each, and Marcus Neff with 1.
In spite of an uncharacteristically cold shooting night from behind the arc, Doug Rasch led Bellbrook with 21, followed by Austin Hall with three 3-pointers for 9. Rob Hisey contributed 7, Josh Rogers 4, and Casey Demko, Jackson Jabir, and Colton Phillips 2 each.
