Article: Bellbrook Tops Monroe 56-31

The Bellbrook Lady Golden Eagles bounced back from their loss to CJ earlier this week with a 56-31 win over Monroe Thursday night at Bellbrook.

Both teams started slow and shot poorly in the first quarter, with Bellbrook edging ahead 8-4 at the end of the period. The home team opened the second period with an 8-0 run, spurred by a 3 point basket by Erin Dorn and strong defensive play from Emily Smith, Kelly Neumann and Chea Taylor. Freshman Anna Nicholson had some strong minutes as well, contributing 3 blocked shots and 6 points.

Bellbrook was led by G Etter with 14, and Erin Dorn with 13, including 2 treys. Chea Taylor added 7, and Anna Nicholson and Kelly Neumann had 6 each. Bellbrook had lots of help from the bench, with Hannah Songer with 3; Emily Smith, Hana Midtlien and Madi Pittman with 2; and Madi Hofacker with 1.

Monroe was led by Kayla Alexander’s 9 points, all on 3-point baskets, and Aubrie Jestice and Samantha Steele with 7 each. Morgan Heck added 5 and Noel Thompson 3 for the Lady Hornets.

Bellbrook next faces Oakwood at Oakwood Saturday afternoon.

Coach Tincher has done a great job adding non-league games to strengthen the schedule and expose his team to better competition. This year, in addition to SWBL teams, Bellbrook is playing:

Kenton Ridge
Miamisburg
Clinton Massie
CJ
St. Ursula
Toledo Central Catholic
Butler
Wilmington
Akron Hoban
Northmont
Carroll

Good for Bellbrook adding those teams. Unfortunately, the three GWOC teams they scheduled (Miamisburg, Butler, and Northmont) are all down this season. Especially Northmont.
