Who will Rootstown turn to in order to turn around this Portage County school? Will they look east to the offensive coordinator of Ravenna Southeast and former Mogadore head coach with 2 state titles????? Would be interesting. Other thoughts?
I heard they approached him, and he's "thinking" about it. Not sure if it's a good fit for him. Their numbers are way down, and not sure how his full-house approach will translate to the kids. Just can't see him at Rootstown, however it would be a fantastic hire for them. Coach Mccoy is a great man and will be significantly missed by the Rootstown community.
Rumor has it the search committee is targeting current Cuyahoga Falls assistant, and Crestwood coaching legend, Tom Hannan, and a few Portage County assistant coaches ( I assume Pollocks one of the candidates).

I saw Southeast play twice and I never saw anything that looked like a "full-house". Rootstown sounds like a mess and nothing a guy with State Title rings should be involved in.
I feel like there is some fallacy that Coach Pollack isn't a creative offensive guy. My experience with him has always been he is able to mold his offense around the talents available to him. People seem to think he only runs certain things. When he was a finalist at Green last spring people kept insinuating he isn't a capable offensive guy but he most certainly is.
Hannan might be a better fit if he wants it. His wing t may work with the Rovers and their small numbers....which may rise since their levy did pass. Would be more concerned about Atwater Waterloo who has real money problems......
Why are people saying Rootstown is in shambles? They started the season 5-0 last year, correct? I think they finished 5-5 or 6-4, but unless they lost a tomn of seniors, they could compete. With the passing of a new levy, maybe the pay to play will disappear and things can turn quickly out there. Good Luck to the Rovers.
Rootstown should hire an up and coming younger guy like a Brian Wervey at Aurora or someone similar with a proven pedigree. Wervey played at Lake Catholic and Mt Union and has been the D coordinator at Aurora for the past 7 years or so.
The new coach should be ready for the long haul. Be a part of the youth and Middle school programs and become a visible community member. To bring in a Pollock or Hannan would just be short term fix.
Not sure what two Southeast games you saw them play in this year. Maybe your "full-house" look is different than mine, however they were primarily a T formation "full-house" team all year long. Occasionally, they went a little gun, but primarily shoved it down teams throats. Again, if Rootstown were to get coach Pollock, it would be a "home-run" for sure!
Word is that it is Pollocks job if he wants it. He just has to decide if he wants to go back to Southeast (where he basically runs that team) or deal with all the extras that come with being a HC at Rootstown. (competing against soccer, lack of interest, etc.)
A bigger northern Portage County School in the Metro Division of the Portage Trail Conference passed on Pollock and I bet they may have been better off than the situation they are in now. Losing seasons and players not staying with the program. Oh well, maybe Rootstown will get it right, hope so for their boys in the program.
Seems like he gets passed on quite a bit. He was good at Streetsboro and Mogadore. Did he burn a bridge somewhere or is he carrying any baggage? Where is he teaching at these days. Seems odd he cant land a head coaching job with so many out there every year.

What a waste of a good role model that some school could have in the building everyday. Its a shame these younger retired teachers cant stay on longer. Good for him though he must only be about 52 or so now. I knew him when he was coaching at Streetsboro.
And to think the northern district could have had him without "creating" a teaching position. Hopefully Rootstown can build their program and compete with the PTC remaining schools..when Windham and E. Canton leave.

And now that guy (Crestwood Coach) has supposedly applied for "Greener Pastures" in Nordonia after only 2 years.
Tom Hannan at Rootstown? Not with their current AD (Rootstown) who is buddy, buddy with the current AD at Hannan's previous school (Crestwood). Think about it.
