Ferguson is full of poetential and full of crap. He is turning into a loser. He didn't want to do things right at WW so he transferred to Princeton. He can't get it right over there either as the coach is ready to kick him off the team.
As far as playing Kings? People at WW don't mind. As a matter of fact former head coach Troy Everhart and current head coach Andre Parker has approached and called Coach Olds about playing each other and he declined.
Blue dropped the hammer on the young man .I always hoped that the coaches could get through to him, but you really need the support at home, parents, etc for the coach to effectively get thru. The coaches are telling the kid one thing and the parents tell him something opposite. The funny thing is I saw him on the Winton Woods campus 2 days ago.
Outside of the playoffs, I feel the Kings will never play Winton Woods in football (or basketball) again. IMO, I think the coaches are flat out afraid.

As of now he would be a back up. If he plays QB he wouldn't be able to play on defense. I heard Hooks got injured this spring I don't know the severity of his injury but I have seen him working out.
So will Grissom be playing both ways this season, if he doesn't play QB? Won't he be in the slot on offense? Also, wasn't Hooks the QB that got hammered at the Harrison game last year and didn't return to the game? I don't know much about the young man, but what kind of size does he have? Will he be able to take a hit?

Grissom starts at slot but they are trying to get him on the field more so he may play corner also. Grissom was always fast but has gotten faster because he ran track this spring. Yes, Hooks was that QB at Harrison. He has put on alot of muscle since the fall, he LIVES in the strength room.

I do think where to play Grissom is something that needs to be worked out. He is one of the better all around players on the team. I think you play Tyler Gist and Stephon Rogers at the slots and Grissom on defense and spot play him at slot on offense.
I asked a couple of people that may know a little and this is what I got.
QB Shemar Hooks, Jr
FB Jalin Davis, Jr.
RB Tyler Gist, Sr.
RB Nick Grissom, Sr.
WR Sean Jetter, Sr.
WR Steffon Rogers, Sr.
It was made clear that this is not set in stone. Grissom could end up on defense, Rogers could end up at RB. And the competition for all positions is wide open and has already started. Hooks, Gist and Grissom really did alot for themselves running track, they were impressive. Some Sophomores are showing up big time on the track team and weight room and could really press for varsity playing time in some skilled positions. The only ones I would fill in the depth chart with ink would be OT McCorkle, DL Cage, LB Poole, DB Edwards, DB Suesberry and the placekicker whose name escapes me at the moment.
I know it's not likely that WW will do much in the way of passing, but can Hooks throw the ball? It seems like that could be an option with a couple of seniors in the WR position.
Really enjoy the WW program. Very athletic and well coached. Alwyas liked watching those kids play. Do any of you WW fans know how the freshman team will be? My grandson is a middie freshman and they play WW in week 3 at Barnitz. Not sure if you moved freshman up to JV like we do.

they are skilled across the board, The offense runs through a gifted athlete William Green and the defense is anchored by a solid defensive front.

I make it a point to take in at least 1 game for each level team. I think next years freshmen only loss 1 game in their 2 middle school seasons (I know for a fact they never loss a middle school basketball game). A lot depends on which kids actually attend high school at Winton Woods. I know some of the parents were talking about possibly sending kids to other schools like St. X, but has since changed their minds. The middle school athletes really are a tightly knitted group and want to stay together thru high school, so we will have to wait and see.
I dont think they any of next years freshmen get moved up, but there are a couple linebackers and the Green kid that are capable of playing JV.

I thought William Green was a Fairfield 8th grader?
There will be another freshman that comes named Alex Parker. He is already 6'3" and will probably be a DE. He did not attend Winton Woods middle school but will be at the high school.
sounds like WW will be good again at that level. Heres to a great game!
Last season's Freshman's contest was WW 32 Middies 0. There is no way that the score will be like that this season. Middletown has a complete off season and it will trickle down to the lower levels. Those games are played on Thursdays and if the weather is nice I am going to check this game out, just to be nosey.
The bottom line is this WW program will not succeed until disicipline is implemented across the board. Until the coaches make a concerted effort to eradicate the usage of profanity and specifically the "N" word along with the constant taunting and bullying during practice, they wont have a chance.
Ive witnessed smaller players waiting in line for their turn in a particular drill, to only have some upperclassman step right in front of the young man as if he didnt exist. If the underclassman protested, a near fight ensued. And no response from the Coaches.
Ive watched young men quit on the team mid-practice and call every coach and player on the team horrible names while they made their exit. And yet the next day they are back on the team and running with the first team. Several of these players have walked out on the team every year they've been with the program.
I know a sophmore who was a victim of an assualt and robbery (a felony btw) inside the locker room after a jv game by a fellow varsity team mate. It took 3 teammates to stop the attack. This young was suspended from school for 3 weeks and upon his return, could be seen on the sidelines WITH THE TEAM in sweats and a game jersey. The following year he was fully reinstated with the team. Incredible.
Ive witnessed seniors scream the n word to underclassman, telling them that they are nothing and will never amount to nothing, yet the coaches all seem turn a blind eye.
Talk X's and O's, college offers, talent coming up or transferring in ,etc, all you want. But until the taunting, the bullying, the constant usage of that dreaded word and the other obscenites are dealt with, this team is going no where.
Wow. If all of that happened, any responsible adult that had knowledge of it should notify authorities up to and including the local police agency. I know if I had knowledge of this happening to a kid I would report it, even if I gained the information second handed.
Is the 145lb corner/safety playing football this coming season?

Do you hear me Coach Parker? Set the example.
So sorry to hear this , but it sounds true . I know some players and dad's this is not the first I heard of this . Yet we wonder why our youth are miss directed . Please do all you can to help improve the atmosphere at WW , good kids are at all schools just like losers . Keep a positive outlook and help out when you can . It starts at home as we all know
It WAS reported. For 2.5 years complaints have fallen on deaf ears. It continues to this day. Loacl authorities were not notified as the thought was to not drag WW fragile public image down any further. For loyalty and love for the school the local authories were not notified and this is how it was handeled.
Can you imagined being on the same team with someone who literally comitted a violent offense against you and those in charge allow that person to continue on the team? What does that say about the coaching staff? The school administration?
No child should have to ever be exposed to such nonsense esp at school!!!

I am not a very smart man. I am going to ask you a series of questions, hoping you can respond yes or no.
1. Did this alleged assault/robbery happen to a kid you personally know?
2. Did YOU report this alleged assault/robbery to the Forest Park Police?
The fact is love and loyalty to the school would make ME report this to law enforcement, especially after school adminstration didn't. I believe that it was just some stupid teenage BS that had taken place, that doesnt warrant police involvment. But if you think it did then DO SOMETHING! This is one problem I have with my community (people that look like me) is unwillingness to do the right thing even if it hurts. Anyone who sits back and does nothing is just as bad as someone who commits an injustice.
One more yes or no question: is the 145lb corner/safety playing football this upcoming season.

I wish I could say that you are wrong but, I've witness the verbal abuse and the use of the N word first hand. I have not heard of this assault and I'm appalled if this actually occurred. With last year being a down year I would assume that discipline will be at a premium. I know coach Parker and the AD are related but, another down year and Coach Parker could find himself on the hotseat.

Teenage bs! Really? The subsequent investigation resulted in a 3 week suspension from school and no play time for the remainder of the year.
The young man in question made a mistake. The property taken was returned and there no serious injuries from the attack. The focus here should be on the response of the school and the football program and not whether the police were contacted.
No child who demonstrates this type of behavior should ever be allowed to rejoin the team, esp if the victim is still a member of the team. Last I checked playing football is a priviledge and not a right.
It gets better.
The 3rd game of the year (Middletown) the victim of the assault was benched the entire game. And Who was his replacement you ask? Guess!!!!!
Thats right, the very kid who committed the assault
The victim was benched the entire game without explanation from the head coach.
What message was being sent to the parents of the victim when their son was replaced by the very kid who took his property by force and then commence to assaulting the young man in the locker room in front of a slew of witnesses?
What message are you sending to the victim of the assault?
The kid(victim) eventually quit the team(thankfully).
I wonder why.
The 1-5 start was no fluke. Losing to Walnut Hills was no fluke.

No discipline, why bother
Teenage BS gets you suspended from a team. Felony assault and robbery (as you describe it) gets you convicted and placed behind bars. And the parents of that alledged victim should be ashamed of themselves to let something like that happened to their child. I dont see how that Father could look himself in the mirror. If you know the name of the kid who did this could you PM it to me?
And you stated the incident took place 2 1/2 years ago. It sounds like the kid didnt immediately quit the team if he was benched during the Middletown game that took place around 8 months ago. Sounds like the victim quit because he was benched not because he was assaulted and robbed (as you describe it).

Bro, you got issues. Serious ones. One of which is clearly reading comprehension. No where did I state the kid in question quit because of the assault. In my original post, I simply provided my reasons and certain examples as to why I think the team will not be successful playing football this upcoming season. Sorry the image of your beloved team has been soiled.
Not my doing.
Be advised MRMAGICIDIOT that I mention a number of examples as to why I feel the team wont succeed. Why are you focusing in on this one example?
Why not mention the abhorent behavior displayed by the team daily during practice and in front of the community? Remember, WW has a public track.
Many residents and their children visit the track daily and the behavior displayed by these children under the direct supervision of the ADULT coaching staff can be heard from the stands.
Just for your information, the kid in question started two games after the benching. He decided to leave the team following his last start.
Some kids simply choose not to exist in an enviornment where being black, intelligent, hard working and goal-oriented isnt encourage or celebrated. An enviornment where children are permitted to call each other the most vile of names in the presence of adult supervision.
What type of man attacks a victim of this henious act by reducing it to playing time?

Im sure your parents are proud of you.
Whoa brother take it easy. I in no way personally insulted you. The reason why I am asking so many questioned is becaused I am considering withdrawing my athletic booster status and keeping my money in my pocket because of this incident.
The truth of the matter is I have a very good idea who you are and since you have the need to personally attack me I will make it a point to reintroduce myself to you.
Something happened. It sounds like it was between your son Kyle and Raheem Elston, but I am not sure. So I will get a couple of former players numbers from my daughters and get the story from them.
Once again you failed to address any of the other concerns mentioned in my original post. Your silence leads me to believe that you think its ok for children (who look like you btw) to call each other awlful names in the presence of adult supervision while on school property while representing the school itself.
The football team and the enviornment that comes with it should be a place where discipline reigns supreme.
Where fine young men come together to play a violent sport under the hottest of conditions.
These young men sacrifice their time and sweat to play this game.
No legitmate coach should ever allow an evironment to exist where our children are refered to as N's.
It occurrs DAILY AT WW MR BOOSTER AND...
ALL THE TIME!!!!!!
Other posters have already confirmed this. This is what your money is supporting.

Any wonder why they are independent? Yeah, right.
I am very concerned about the total lack of disclipline in the football program at the moment. I was one of the first to call out the coaches about that. I wasnt comfortable with the number of people on the Winton Woods sidelines and field during the Middletown game. I repeatedly state that most teenagers need total and complete guidance in every aspect of their lives. The behavior and lack of disclipline is a direct reflection of the coaching staff. I said the inexperience of Coach Parker as a head coach hurt this team last season. I know Coach Parker is a good man but he needs to surround himself with quality men. I statef that I would like to see Coach Willertz and Calvin Johnson involved with the football team. The general lack of disclipline is not enough for me to withdraw my support because I support all the kids and athletics when I can. But if it is tolerated that a child in my community can be physically assaulted and robbed (as you stated) then thats too much. You put the incident out there and no need to shy away from it now. I hope that this didnt happen to your son and you did nothing. Whats funny is I saw you at Kroger, it looked like you were having car problems and needed a jump. I dropped off my wife drove around the lot to come help you and a nice lady pulled in to help. You were in your SUV and gone before I could help you out. But now I'm a idiot.

Thank you. For finally addressing the issue of discipline. I withdraw my comment regarding your state of mind. It was out of line and completely uncalled for. Please accept my apologies.
The intent again was only to support why I think the team will struggle.
I played for Forest Park under Lou Cynkar. I dont recall ever hearing that dreaded word during practice, and I dont recall ever not hearing that word at the school now called Winton Woods. How sad.
