The ECC officials were recently seen "touring" WW facilities. which in my opinion is a joke. Most of the officials were AD's from the FAVC/ECC so they already know what WW has. They also visitied Withrow.

Middies97, who does Winton Woods have (personnel wise), that makes you guess that the Warriors could win between 5 to 8 games on that schedule? That schedule is ridiculous and I love it

Ona a link about the top 10 in SW Ohio, Winton Woods plays 3 of those teams. Middletown, Wayne and Elder. Very tough schedule for a D2 team but the Warriors have always played anybody who wanted to play them. I hope we have 5 wins in that schedule but I have a hard time seeing it. Oh well, we will just have to wait and see I guess.

Wow that would be crazy if Withrow gets picked over Winton Woods because I bellieve Withrow doesn't have Tennis (Boys/Girls), Golf (Girls/Boys), and Soccer (Girls/Boys) and on top of all that they dont have a Junior High.

They have soccer - at least a boys team.

Did I emphasize the word guess lol I may be wrong, but I thought I read where though WW lost a lot, they had a lot of promising underclassmen last year. Apart of my prediction deals with history--it seems as of late that WW tends to reload as opposed to rebuild. Another part of my prediction deals with the fact that they have teams on their schedule such as Middletown who have as many, if not more, question marks than they do

Ok. You just basing your guess off the program not specific personnel. I was just fishing to see if you perhaps knew something I didnt. I have my feelings about this seasons Warriors team that I will keep to myself but I will share this. After last season, every position is a question mark except OT McCorkle, RB Gist, DL Cage, DB Edwards. And the whole coaching staff should feel like they have something to prove.

I wonder if there is a chance that some of the incoming freshman see the field on varsity. It's well known that the incoming freshman are more skilled across the board then the class above them.

They have soccer for both, and they have indoor track in the winter, that no one else has. They only have access to every kid in the Cincinnati Public School District, which has no free standing jr.highs. They have a lot of what are called elementary schools, you know kids start in kindergarten and go through eighth grade. Besides, do you really think leagues care much about sports other than football and boys basketball? That is where the revenue comes from. I would say that a football game brings in more $ and puts more butts in seats than all three of those sports combined do in a season. Withrow would be a good fit, and it would be a way for the ECC to thumb their noses at Winton Woods and not have financial worries that Winton Woods brings with it.

I don't think so. They may be skillful but just dont have the size yet. Maybe a back up fullback. The 2014 class is the top class at the school.

I would personally like to see Withrow. It's in Eastern Cincinnati, they're D1, and it would be another neighborhood rivalry in the conference. I think Walnut and Withrow are closer to each other than Anderson and Turpin.

Its always interesting to me the reasons why individuals feel the way they do. Withrow and WH is seperated by approx. 2 miles in distance but are worlds apart. They both have very active and engaged fan bases. The two schools dont seem interested at all in playing each other on a regular basis. Being from the same school district it wouldnt be a big deal to had scheduled the game annually on a non conference basis. And I dont think Withrow being D1 makes any difference considering they will be D2 in the 2013 season and Turpin, Kings and Anderson already are D2.

I asked a couple of people that may know a little and this is what I got.

QB Shemar Hooks, Jr
FB Jalin Davis, Jr.
RB Tyler Gist, Sr.
RB Nick Grissom, Sr.
WR Sean Jetter, Sr.
WR Steffon Rogers, Sr.

It was made clear that this is not set in stone. Grissom could end up on defense, Rogers could end up at RB. And the competition for all positions is wide open and has already started. Hooks, Gist and Grissom really did alot for themselves running track, they were impressive. Some Sophomores are showing up big time on the track team and weight room and could really press for varsity playing time in some skilled positions. The only ones I would fill in the depth chart with ink would be OT McCorkle, DL Cage, LB Poole, DB Edwards, DB Suesberry and the placekicker whose name escapes me at the moment.

I think Jalin Davis will have a break out year, he really could of got more playing time if Aaron Kemper wasn't there.

How was Davis and Hooks in the JV games? I only went to one JV game and saw them in a couple of varsity games and I do wish I would had seen more of Davis.

That kicker would be named Robbie Lewis who will be a Senior this year.

They both looked like they could play varsity but immature at sometimes with the plays.

Middletown vs Winton Woods

Any idea if both teams decided to renew another series after this year or has ww already have an opponent for the following year?

Actually Hooks got plenty of looks at QB last season when Underwood was knicked up and didnt look quite ready to me. He is explosive but he is going to have to be willing to make tough 4 or 5 yard runs to keep the chains moving. But you can tell he loves to compete.

I thought I heard that Grissom may get a chance at QB. Any truth to that, or did I just hear wrong? Also - returning players Grissom and Gist are both part of the 4x100 relay that qualified for state. How will the speed be for the Warriors this upcoming season compared to the past few years?

Let me give you my take about speed. Winton Woods has always had and will always have speed in the offensive skilled positions and defensive secondary. Normally, when they line up these players will be faster than the player they line up across from. To me the when speed becomes a weapon is when, the Warriors linebackers and defensive linemen are faster than the oppositions offensive skilled positions, which is the case quite a bit. So when I compare the speed of the front 7 to that of past teams, then NO this years team will not be faster than the Wintons Woods teams of the past 3 or 4 seasons. You have Cage on the DL, who is a freak athlete but outside of him the others that may make up the 7 arent as fast as guys like Keeno Hollins, Dave Hampton, etc.

And speed means nothing if you are playing undiscliplined football and not getting guys on the ground at the point of attack.

WW will be in the hunt all season ..They win 7 games from what I see and playoff bound . We look to see them later on , have not played them since my son was freshman ...Can't wait !!!!
OH what about the Fergason kid ? Jules ? he looked like a beast at times .

Ferguson is full of poetential and full of crap. He is turning into a loser. He didn't want to do things right at WW so he transferred to Princeton. He can't get it right over there either as the coach is ready to kick him off the team.
As far as playing Kings? People at WW don't mind. As a matter of fact former head coach Troy Everhart and current head coach Andre Parker has approached and called Coach Olds about playing each other and he declined.

As of now he would be a back up. If he plays QB he wouldn't be able to play on defense. I heard Hooks got injured this spring I don't know the severity of his injury but I have seen him working out.
