With the new D1 alignment (600 or less) split. Do you guys think it'll be easier to join a conference? I'm not a big fan of wandering in the desert for the next few years. We have some monster athletes coming down the pike and it'll be a shame if they can only play top level D1 programs because the middle of the road D2 schools refuse to play us.

No one at WW wants to be independent but their aren't any options for them. And i don't think the new alignment helps or hurts.

I having a little trouble following you. If you believe that there are "monster athletes" walking the halls in the schools, High and Middle, then why would you want them to compete against anything other than the top D1 level programs? That's why I like the situation, it gives the Warriors a chance to really test themselves and the football schedule reflects that. The Warriors will just have to see those middle of the road D2 programs come playoff time, if the Warriors can make it. There are some issues with the independent status but the glass is half full.

We need some middle of the road teams to ensure we get enough harbin points to qualify for the playoffs.
Well gotta take it one week at a time and realize that every game is a playoff game. Play the best and if we can't win or make the post season then sit our butts at home again and get better.
With the schedule they have they will be lucky to win enough to even get into the playoffs! they have a fullback and quarterback I hope.
Fullback will be Jalen Davis, who actually was a varsity caliber back last season as a Sophomore, but was stuck behind Kemper. I wish he could had gotten a few more looks on varsity. Quarterback will be Shemar Hooks who is a very explosive athlete. The coaches gave him ever opportunity to win the starting job but couldn't beat out Underwood. But just the fact he was given the opportunity tells me the coaches think highly of him and so do I. I just hope he can stay healthy. They will have some serious speed in the backfield between Tyler Gist, Steffon Rogers and Nick Grissom (he could end up corner).

Yeh, but the thing about hooks is, he holds to football like a loaf of bread, and I know the coaches were trying to work with him last year on that issue. He also did it during jv games. You are right, he is explosive but I hope he or someone has been working on him holding the ball closer to his body.
There ARE options just not sexy options. A)We can wait for Wilmington to bolt from the SWOC B) join the city league C) Find a partner and try to join the GMC. I get a sense that many people are simply going to accept that they've done all they can to get in a league. I beg to differ there is always one more thing you can do( that goes for life/work).

The SWOC is not going to take WW even if Wilmington leaves. Ross, Edgewood, Talawanda, etc... do not want to compete with WW in basketball and football. And I don't blame them... neither team gets anything out of that normally.

Exactly! Besides, if the SWOC wanted WW , they would already be in!
Well, you won't have to worry about being beat by Walnut Hills this year.
Or Harrison . And even though Winton Woods was 9-1 against Harrison the last 10 seasons, last seasons loss still doesn't sit well with me. The Warriors were a team in total chaos that week and I still question the coaching staff on that one. But the Warriors didn't lose another game after that so I guess whatever the message was the young men received it and I hope it carries over to this season. But let's leave this league stuff alone already, everyone has given an opinion and there are people who are paid to figure it out. It appears that Trent Donald is in fact playing football. He was working out with the team yesterday, which I find odd considering AAU basketball is in full swing.

Trent was working out but he said he doesn't want to play but was trying to stay in good shape. But he may change his mind.

How has the weight room turn out numbers been looking. I know a number of players are running track. There are a couple of Freshmen that I think may start next season as sophomores, but names escape me at the moment.
Weightroom turnout has really been good. the freshmen or sophomores to be are looking very good. The players that are running track are still getting their lifts in. Dave Long,Dave Sparks, Chaz Lumpkin and Christian Lumpkin are some of the freshmen that you are talking about. They are running track and getting very strong. Shemar Hooks, Tyler Gist, Nick Grissom are really looing good also.

Right those are some of the names, in particular the Long kid. Some talk he may crack the line up on defense at safety (with Edwards) or at LB. And is Edwards, Suesberry and McCorkle hitting it hard. Very important time for them, especially Suesberry.
Illinois offers Winton Woods sophomore defensive lineman Daniel Cage

Illinois offered Winton Woods sophomore defensive lineman Daniel Cage this week, according to Winton Woods coach Andre Parker.
Cage, who is 6 feet 3 and 270 pounds, was the first reported area player to have an offer in the 2014 class.
Cage was a second-team all-Fort Ancient Valley Conference Buckeye division selection this past season.
One has gotta believe that if Daniel stays healthy (I'm concerned about him playing basketball) there will be plenty of more offers coming. And 2014 safety Mike Edwards started all 10 games and was first team all conference as a sophomore. It wont be too long before his offers start rolling in.
Cage will get many offers and I am not to concerned about him staying healthy. He is so strong and durable he will not have any issues. I actually think him playing basketball will help him remain quick and keep his feet.

Cage is a BEAST! I saw him running on the field the other day and he is fast to be sooo BIG.

With this schedule I'm guessing (and I emphasize the word guess) that WW could go anywhere from 5-5 to 8-2. If I had to bet on the probable losses with this schedule it would be Wayne and Elder. I see Middletown, East, and Bishop Watterson being toss up games.

Don't underestimate Marshall and Alder. I believe that Alder lost in the regional finals and Marshall lost in the second round to the state runner-up by fumbling at the goaline as time expired in the game. I also believe Marshall has 17 or 18 starters coming with 9 on offense...and Alder has about 15 coming back.
