Cederville use to be power in the smaller school ranks for many years, it's a shame that it's fallen on hard times. I wonder if there is any former players floating around who can help kind this once proud program.

I played against them back in the day. I think it is probably a few things:

* Jim Villenger was an amazing coach he retired some time ago.

* Much of Villenger's success was based upon a disciplined system that requires commitment and dedication. The lazy video game generation has even invaded rural America, I fear.

* They're a tiny school school (90 boy enrollment count) and added soccer several years ago. I think it is difficult to maintain those two sports at schools that small (though I know many will dispute the value soccer players can provide on the gridiron).

* Also, many of the teams they used to routinely beat have either given up football (Yellow Springs) or have grown much, much bigger (Clinton Massie, East Clinton, Waynesville, etc. I think they used to even stomp Jon Alder back in the 80's.

it's a shame that many of the schools located in Greene & Clark County drastically under perform. I can't point towards one school in those two counties that are living up to there potential in football or basketball.

Really

How about SPFLD. CATHOLIC? Maybe SHAWNEE? Both are consistent contenders for the playoff"s. I think XENIA just about matches talent with record. BTW CEDARVILLE does not have an official soccer team. C'VILLE and the BURG are the only OHC teams without soccer.

Glad to hear that. They must have dropped it then (which was a good decision), because they added it at one time.

Whether or not it consumed funds, it consumed athletes. At the DVI level, those are kids who could have played DB, WR, etc.

Some did play fb. One got a soccer scholarship to CEDARVILLE and played fb in hs. What it comes down to is schools can have both fb and soccer and have success in both sports. It is not easy but there are many schools in the sw district that do it. I know many of those are private schools but I don't know why SCC with 80 boys can do it but CEDARVILLE can not.

Cedarville Coach

I heard it was between a guy named Christenson who is from Cedarville and played for Villinger and Coach Tj Smart from Beavercreek. I think they hired Christenson

You do know Central is in playoffs almost every year. Shawnee just played for a state title,Tecumseh is a playoff regular,Springfield has been in playoffs 2 of the 4 year existence and was league champs 2 seasons ago

The only two Clark County teams who haven't made the football playoffs since 2000 are NW and Greenon. Everyone else has made the playoffs at least once. (CC, Spfld, Tec, Shawnee, KR, NE and SE). Greenon has won several MRD titles too but missed the playoffs those seasons.

Please. They are living up to their potential. The OHC is not the MAC in football or the CCC in basketball.

The CCC in basketball? I wouldn't describe them as dominant, especially compared to the MAC in football. They have good hoop teams, but most times the OHC is a little bit better, IMO.

No. The CCC has dominated the OHC in the tournament over the last decade. No Div. IV OHC team has made it out of the sectionals. Southeastern, Central, Mechanicsburg, etc. lose to a CCC or SCL squad almost every year in the sectionals.

What do you mean the last decade? Bertemeas won several sectionals and i think 2 or 3 districts at Cedarville and SE.

Exactly. And Greeneview's gone to the districts two of the last three years, knocking CCC Miami East out of the tournament both times.

Miami East says "old news".

And you do remember Miami East's state run? Whatever; enjoy your OHC.
