Awwww, I know it pains you there Mr. Cats whenever I bring up this subject. However, just close your mouth and mind your own business. It is a legit question. 400 vs 800 is just stupid.
Go back and make some Springfield thread talking about how excited everyone is with the new coach.
You are correct. These crossover games help us fill up our schedule, and it's to my understanding that they are mandatory. FBGuy should know this...
No, they are not madatory. If both teams agree, they do not have to play the game. I expected you to know this. Apparently I was asking for too much.
This was done with Centerville and Butler the past few years. It allowed for Centerville to play Alter and then St. Ignatius. Centerville wanted to play tough teams and schools their size.
Apparently Wayne did not want to do this.
Don't worry though, Wayne is not the only Central team who is afraid to do this. Springfield has been guilty of it. Centerville also appears to have changed their minds as they will play Greenville this year. 1100 Centerville boys will play 350 Greenville kids. Then you also have Northmont playing Sidney for a little while now.
Seems as if Wayne has lightened up the schedule as they now want to play schools half their size. Wow............. playing Butler, really?
Wayne 800 boys
Butler 400 boys
Sad on the part of Wayne
Chatard, Watterson, CDS?
Butler is a neighboring school and will be a huge draw. As you know it is a cross-over game so Wayne did not choose the opponent. Why would Wayne get out of a home game with a huge draw to play an out of state opponent with little to no draw? One last thing... Size doesn't matter, it is what you do with what you got. Just check out the MAC for that!!!!
Sounds like FBGuy is a hater.... what about when Wayne has to play ST. X, THEY HAVE 1200 boys. I believe butler is in the GWOC.... and so is t-wood.
A hater? So presenting facts and asking why this game is being played means I am a "hater"? Well........... I guess where you are from facts, questions, and just pointing out the obvious makes someone bad.
Lets look at what you brought to this debate......
- Yes, St. Xavier is bigger. That is the reason they are adding a new division next year. It is also the reason they had a vote on private and competitiveness that was voted down. So, when you bring up St. X, all you have done is prove me to be right. Besides, aren't St. X and Wayne both DI? Is St. X two times the size of Wayne? You play Centerville every year and they have 1200 boys. Butler is DII and has 400 boys. Thanks for providing info that makes my argument stronger. '
- Yes, Trotwood and Butler are in the GWOC. However, other than showing that you know the teams and their divisions, I don't see how this means a thing.

Huge drw? Neihborhood game? If that is the case, then Wayne should also play Northridge and Tecumseh. Maybe even Bethel!!!
Why would they get out of the game? Well, they should only get out of the game if they want to play schools their size in a competitive game. If they want a win and money, then they definitely should continue to play schools half their size.

Northridge and Bethel would not be huge draws... come on, you are being silly. You know even Butler would handle both of those teams easily. I would love to see Tecumseh play Wayne but they show no interest. I have attended Tecumseh/Butler games before and the crowds are huge. Do you think that the kids at Tecumseh would not have wanted a shot at Wayne a few years ago when they spanked Butler 49-6 or the previous year when the went 10-0?
If you follow Ohio football statewide you would realize that size doesn't matter, it is what you do with what you got.

Like i said a Wayne hater.... they don't pick their opp. in the crossover game. From my understand they will play everbody in the gwoc league, not just the central. Wayne doesn't schedule cupcakes. they play a tough schedule every year. For some reason the have a weaker opp. is because teams backing out. Like in 1999 with Masssilon Tigers backing out, and thay play Belmont. Playing Canton Mc. cleve. Glenville and E.ST.LOUIS is not scheduling down.
Can't make a playoff run without getting into the playoffs. Why give up the home gate vs a very winnable opponent. Other teams like St X, Elder, I'm sure even Centerville have played against teams from lower divisions at home (for the gate), which seemed like very winnable games. Columbus DeSales comes to mind, or for Elder they played Cleveland Benedictine for a few years. I don't understand why it bothers you so much?

Well, how many people would Bethel bring? How many does Butler bring? I was at the Butler vs Miamisburg game last year. The Butler stands were half full and it was a home game.
Tecumseh and Butler are good games because the two schools are the SAME SIZE. Year after year, they are equal and competitive games.
If you were to play Tecumseh 10 times, they you will win 9 of the, probably even 10. Yes, Tecumseh had a great year a few years ago. They still would not have beaten Wayne. I use this example a lot. Piqua won the state title with Saine. That year, they lost to Northmont. Big schools should play big schools.
I do follow Ohio football. Size definitely matters. Rarely, very, very rarely, does a DII school beat a good DI school. Also, Ohio has divisions for a reason.

Staying with playing Butler is playing down. Sorry.

Thank you. You summed it all up. It is a home game against a much smaller and weaker opponent. Why would Wayne give that up? LOL!!!!

Hey, hater you need to call butlers AD and tell him to drop out of the GWOC. because half of the school in the north are D1.

Maybe you guys can actually go .500 this year I mean you do play big bad Bellbrook and franklin

It's the regular season. All the games don't have to be fair. You schedule to get your team to the playoffs and to get them playing at their best so they can make a run. Wayne does this by playing a few tough games each year, usually early in the season. We also have competitive games against the other Central teams every year. And then we play winnable games against teams that can get us the Harbin points we need to get into playoffs. The playoffs are where the games become fair. Those are the games that matter for us. We, along with all the teams in the state of Ohio, want to win a state title. This is our approach to it. Sometimes it works, and we make a decent run, and sometimes we get spanked by really good teams. That's high school football for ya. Either take it, or leave it alone.

Again, this benefits the Central. Butler and the rest of the North teams gets shafted. That isn't right.
