Here's a link to a preview of Moeller for 2012, with a tentative schedule. I'm hearing rumors (Dallas Jackson at Rivals) that the crosstown game might be against Gilman Academy of Baltimore MD. Offense looks to be stronger than last year and question marks on defense, having to replace alot of starters. But the defense should be bouyed by the return of Lippincott. Any thoughts?
There are some long road trips on the schedule. Hopefully, they get a good opponent for week 2. That should be a home game. Offensively, I think they will need to tweak last year's offense. Since Monty is gone and there is nobody on the depth chart that can do what he did, they need to go back to running more with Watkins. He's the key player this year and hopefully he stays healthy and he can carry the team offensively. Jensen should be a good weapon. I just think they lost a ton in the passing game with Means, Madaris and Tanner graduating. The spread (ala Oregon) works well when you have the athletes and speed to run it. I hope they don't try to fit a square in a circle.....base the scheme around your personnel. Defensively, they have a couple guys coming back and I think Lippy will have them ready to play. That schedule is brutal. There are no gimmes on the schedule. Every week should be good, competitive football.
I thought the intended purpose of the crosstown was for local teams to play other teams that were local as well... With how consistant Moe's been, why not try for the Herbie?

It would be my guess that some of the "local" teams don't want to play some of the big schools. The GCL schools can't play each other. Colerain usually plays one of them. Other teams need to step up. I think that's why they have to go out of the area to find teams. They've kind of got away from the "Crosstown" aspect of it the last few years. I think they'd love to have it that way because it would bring more fans to the game. I know it's being narrow minded, but I'd be satisfied if the they had the four GCL schools playing Colerain, Middletown, Wayne and Centerville.

Besides Colerain, Middletown and Centerville seem to be the only other schools who will play GCL schools. I'd say Huber Heights Wayne, but from what Warrior fans have been saying on here, I think they'd prefer not to play the GCL until the playoffs.
It looks like we'll only have three "home" games. I'm sure the Elder game will be moved to Nippert. That's crazy that no local teams are on the schedule besides GCL teams.
Last Year's Records
Gilman - 10-1
Grand Rapids - 10-1
Detroit Central - 11-2 (lost in Finals)
Louisville St. X - 8-5 (lost to Trinity 3rd round of playoffs)
Indy Cathedral - 12-3 (state champs)
Ed's - 8-4 (I've heard they have a lot back and some think they'll be preseason #1 in Ohio)
Trinity - undefeated
It's better to play quality out of state opponents, than to play the local teams that don't have the talent (i.e. Hamilton or Northmont). I really respect the "local" teams that step up and aren't afraid to play the GCL schools during the regular season. Way to go Colerain, Middletown, and Wayne (a few years ago, at least) for playing against the big boys.

Elder and X have had the same problem for years. Also, Ed's loses a ton if you read their board. They have some solid skill players on offense, but nothing on defense or the lines.
A guy I work with with at kid on X's team says they are going to have a real tough time replacing the graduating seniors. Not a lot of depth in the upcoming senior class, the upcoming jrs have some good players though. X will always be tough.

Kudos to the publics who do step up and play.
Those are pretty much the only public school teams in the area that would have a chance at winning. I'm trying to think of some more but I'm having a hard time thinking of any.
