USAW Ohio state/regional/national events calendar - offseason 2012

The following are the dates for key national/regional events during this off-season
http://www.themat.com/section.php?se...e=olympicstyle

*For those of you new(er), or needing refresher, on the "Fargo" process - top three finish at a regional event earns you automatic qualification to the corresponding event in Fargo ... Cadet/Junior, Greco/Freestyle. In addition, you do not "count" against the state delegation allotments, and you are not bound to participating in a specific weight class.
--The Northeast and Central regionals are the same weekend this year, third weekend in May (the one before Memorial Day). NE is in Bloomsburg, PA, and the Central is in Grand Rapids, MI.
--Over the Memorial Day holiday weekend will be the Southeast Regional, which will again be in Duluth, GA (just outside of Atlanta)

*Additionally, you have the FILA Junior and Cadet events, which have slightly different age groups that can qualify for Fargo. True Cadets can only qualify at FILA Cadets (though that age group is both years of Cadet and the next year), while Juniors can qualify through FILA Juniors (though that captures the next four years after Cadet eligibility).
--FILA Cadets will be the weekend after the Memorial Day holiday at the University of Akron
--FILA Juniors will be the second full weekend of April (i.e. the weekend before OTT) in Madison, WI

***This year's "Fargo" will be the same calendar week as it was last year following the same schedule.
Sat 7/14 - Cadet Women
Sun 7/15 - Cadet Greco
Mon 7/16 - Junior and Cadet Greco
Tues 7/17 - Junior Greco and Junior Women
Wed 7/18 - Cadet Free and Junior WO Duals
Thurs 7/19 - Cadet and Junior Free
Fri 7/20 - Cadet and Junior Free
Sat 7/21 - Junior Free

***I do not know how the Junior, Cadet, and Schoolboy Dual teams are being organized this year, but here are their dates.
-JUNIOR DUALS (Oklahoma City OK): Wed 6/27 and Thurs 6/28 is Greco; Fri 6/29 and Sat 6/30 is freestyle ... check-in the day before each event
-CADET DUALS (Daytona Beach, FL): Tues 6/12 thru Thurs 6/14 is Greco (Check-in Tuesday); Fri 6/15 and Sat 6/16 is freestyle (check-in Thursday)
-SCHOOLBOY DUALS (Indianapolis, IN): Thurs 6/7 and Fri 6/8 is Greco (check-in Wed); Freestyle is Fri 6/8 thru Sun 6/10 (check-in Friday)

The following are qualifier dates for USAW Ohio this year
http://usa-wrestling-ohio.teamsitesn...6/download_doc

Sat 3/24 - Lakota East
Sat 3/31 - Thomas Worthington and Copley
Sat 4/7 - Oregon Clay
Sat 4/14 - Elyria
Sat 4/28 - Dayton Stebbins (this is the Schoolboy and below state tournament, it is a Cadet/Junior qualifier)
Sat 5/5 - Dayton Carroll

The state tournament for Cadet/Junior is Sat 5/12 for Greco, and both Sat 5/12 and Sun 5/13 for Freestyle

**For Cadet and Junior purposes, you must place top six in a qualifier to qualify for the state tournament at that level/style ... the Schoolboy and below state tournament does not require qualification

**For Fargo qualification procedures out of the FS/GR state tournament, read more on the site. The general premise is that ohio has 45 Junior and 51 Cadet counting spots in each style. Those that qualify out of a regional do not count against that allotment. In addition, only four counters can be allocated to any one weight class.

**USAW weight classes this year align with the NFHS weights that were in effect this year .. the juniors 15th weight is 100 pounds, while for Cadets the three "pre-weights" are 88, 94, and 100

The link below is a list of every sanctioned club in Ohio.

I am in the process of building a Google map of Ohio with all the clubs on it.
Stay tuned.

You can qualify for TEAM OHIO by winning the Boardman Qualifier on April 1st - we are taking 4 teams to Houston for the AAU Junior Olympic Games - it's great competition and a great trip !

How do you get onto one of the teams? Is it a qualifier?

I looked on the New usaohiowrestling site and says the results link is under construction. It has all the past results, but nothing current.

I do know that Evan Morgan (Elder) won both GR/FS divisions in his weight. I was also told that a Mount St.Joe's Coach in the open division was doing a nice Suplex throw for a couple 5-ptr's. Those are always nice to see if done correctly....

Was that a MT. St. Joe coach or a Oakhills / Westside Club coach?

Check again. I think they now have them posted.
Results are thin due to the MS National Duals. IMO

Congratulations to all the Ohio Guys that placed.
Side note: Track Wrestling has the 42 Kilo results wrong. Zac McCauley took 5th not 6th. score was 0-5 , 1-1 Great young man! Congratulations to Zac!

Thanks.
He was a little nervous I think but learned a good lesson about competing at a high level and consistency I think.
