Eaton Eagle Football 2012/Stadium & other questions
Is the new stadium stadium groundbreaking scheduled for this spring? Is the coaching staff returning intact? Do the Eagles have a good number of kids at work-outs?
Frogbear59 is right on it. Eaton opens with Greenville, goes to St Henry and Talawanda is there. Then if memory serves me Bookville,@ Oakwood, @Monroe,Bellbrook, Franklin, @Valley View, Preble Shawnee. This is a guess. If nothing else, it is who we play. LOL
I know that the Eagles lost some great Srs. from the class of 2012 but if my memory serves me right, they have a pretty solid nucleus to build around. If all of the underclassmen return that played last year, some on varsity and some from a very good jv squad, it appears ( on paper) that Eaton has about 15 kids that saw a lot of p.t. last season. They will be led by srs.Andrew Holderman, Kyler Wise,Kyle Shepherd,Blake Reynolds, and Tyler Claybaker. It looks like Jr.Billy Ritter may be another in what has become a long line of strong arm QB's at Eaton. Some additional Jrs. that should be definite impact players are Adam Slemker,Aldin Leaker,Keenan Wilson,Walt Snowden,Matt Duffie,Dakota Phillips and Nate Metz.I know this is all early speculation and I know there will be others that will step up but just wanted to talk a little football. It is you know, only 196 days until Kick-off!!!
Not sure about Kyle Shepherd. Has two cracked verebre? or something like that. Rumor is he is only playing baseball. Should still be a nice returning group though
Talawanda's new coach needs to work a miracle and get them back to being somewhat of a respectible program if Eaton is going to continue to keep them on the schedule.
Greenville could be a good series as mentioned because of them joining the GWOC. We will have to wait and see.
I would like to know what is going on in St. Henry. The last two seasons have definitely been the exception more than the norm with that proud program.
I think Greenville is a terrible game for Eaton, b/c they are not going to be worth any points!
If Eaton wins, Greenville also prob loses to Tipp and Findlay (non-conf) then they start GWOC play! Their program is not as good as the rest of the GWOC north right now, so you'd have to predict losses to Troy, Piqua, Trotwood, and Butler. They may get a win over Sidney. I'm not sure who their 2 crossovers will be, but it doesn't matter it does not look like Greenville gets more than 3-4 wins.
I see where you are coming from dograt, but I agree with frogbear. I think it will take a little time to see if this will be a positive or negative. Greenville has now found a league and this will give the team and coaches a chance to start improving. When you play a gypsy schedule it is hard to improve. This also gets there feeder program, ie the kids, in the gwoc wee program. We will just have to wait and see.
St. Henry is a little confusing. These last two years are definitely not the norm for Redskin football. Here is hoping they get it turned around.
Talwanda is the real kicker. They have been moved to the thrid week because they were tired of the butt kicking they got right off the bat. They are hoping that the opener with Monroe will be easier. Their new coach has a lot of work to do. Good Luck to them.
With Eaton being in the Swbl and DIII it will take a lot of work to be playoff bound each year. The biggest problem we had last year is we went 8-2 and had three teams on our schedule that went a combined 1-29. Normal seasons for each of these teams and Eaton is in. Sometimes you just have no control.
Per the site set up for the new athletic facility, it looks like we are not even halfway to where we need to be funding wise. If enough funds are not garnered in time to build a new stadium, where will we be playing our home games in 2013? At East Elementary on Saturday mornings?
It will be Staurdays....Our school board in all its infinite wisdom has left everything till the last minute. Heck they can't even come in on bid when they know how much they can spend. We have two schools that aren't hardly starated and they have the money.

You never know how a season will play out but on paper that doesn't look like a great DIII R12 schedule unless some teams have a turnaround. The cross over game with PS isn't a big point getter, Talawanda never is a big point getter, SH and Greenville have had struggles themselves. It'll be interesting to see how it all plays out. The SWBL as a whole needs to have a better nonconference record heading into league play. That would help everyone.
Carlisle is the crossover game in 14' I believe. It will come a time when you will have to put yourself out there and challenge the team to take the next step. To get to the next level you have to prepare yourself, be ready to take on the challenge.

i agree. It wasn't that long ago when everyone coming into league play was 3-0 or 2-1. Now most have a losing record and then can't win a league game. For everyone to survive in the SWBL it seems to me that the whole league needs to step up. Decisions should be made about some teams. Move smaller teams out of southwest: Brookville and Oakwood, and add a couple of bigger and better teams to southwest. This makes the Buckeye stronger and the Southwestern could get stronger. Not sure how that would work, but it would be worth a try
I thinkd we will still be a pass oriented offense. I do know the line is a going to be a pretty good run line. The pass blocking will come with experience. I see them being young, alot like the o4' team. That team started 11 sophomores. This years squad could start quit a few

The president of the school board has alot on his plate. Closing down yappi threads (see basketball), finding ways for his brother to line his pockets with your tax payer money and scheming to fire a 15-5 girls basketball coach. The kids of this school district are much lower down on the priority list.

Eaglefan77 must have closed it....he is the one that opened it. Any way we are talking football here. Talked to coach the other day and things look really good for the Eagles. We will be young, but he says they are really working hard in the off season. Hey 172, how many days ?
I am glad to hear that. I think we have a strong tradition built here and being a lifer here at Eaton I only hope for the best. I think the foundation has been built to be a power in the Region. We just have to take the next step.
It is only 182 days until kick-off! I agree,I think the Eagles could have some "Rising Stars" and will not be a push-over this fall. Franklin will probably be the Favorite but I know the Eagles will work in the off-season and will be ready.
It seems funny not having one always talking about what he needs to do to get ready for the season. My advice to all fathers, don't let this pass by to quickly. Enjoy your time. Too much focus can blur the absolute joyous time you are going go have.
From my understanding there was some type of dinner at Henny Penny where they announced if the school can raise another $20k for the sports complex fund they will match it.
