Slightly easier than last year. Still a formidable schedule.
Good move by ADs at Hoban and Walsh to move their game to week 10. Big rivalry. No matter how good or bad a team's season is going, this is a game players from both sides will look fwd to playing. Only issue is by week 10, Conway Field is a muddy mess. About time Walsh gets a new surface!
Slightly easier than last year, but certianly no cakewalk.
Bucknut, you are absolutely right, Walsh needs to address that field. I understand they are addressing the entire football complex. With all of the wonderful facilities at Walsh, they are way behind SVSM and Hoban on football facilities.
A ton of computer points to be made. Kent Roosevelt is a must win and could possibly dictate the season with computer points. They will want a piece of Hoban after what happened in the early 2000's.
Friday 8/24 7:00PM @ Kent Roosevelt HS...Kent would of killed Gonzaga and is better than Gonzaga
Friday 8/31 7:30PM vs. Austintown Fitch HS...tough
Friday 9/7 7:30PM @ Boardman High School...tough
Friday 9/14 7:30PM vs. Bishop Hartley HS...tough
Friday 9/21 7:00PM @ St. Vincent-St. Mary HS...Rivalry
Friday 9/28 7:00PM vs. Lake Catholic High School...tough
Friday 10/5 7:00PM @ Padua Franciscan HS...tough
Friday 10/12 7:00PM vs. Notre Dame Cath. Latin..depends
Friday 10/19 7:00PM vs. Benedictine High School..back in the saddle
Friday 10/26 7:00PM @ Walsh Jesuit High School...rivalry
No cakewalk games and tougher than last season if you ask me.

Nice rivalry, but really shouldn't the Hoban St.V-M game be the last game of the season for both? This is a longer rivalry than Walsh and most ST. V people would agree....
After seeing Kent Roosevelt stand toe-to-toe with the Warriors in the first half of this past season's playoff game, I would not give this game as an easy win for the Knights. In fact, I'd probably go the other way, especially with Kent's QB.

I would not want it week 10. Both teams would be really beat up starting to get into the playoffs. I'm not saying Walsh/St V and Walsh/Hoban are hard hitting rivalry games, but Hoban/St V is the Akron Holy War. The games are usually colder with snow, and both teams have speed. I would rather see the speed (if theres a blizzard) and talent with healthy players in the beginning of the season.
I really liked the Hoban/Walsh game when it was week 10 in the 2005 season. I say keep it that way.
The way it has looked recently, only Walsh has to worry about week 11, so I don't buy the argument DB4. Why do McKinley and Massillon play week 10 year after year? They both are usually playing for playoff positioning or berths, and no one is saying they should move it to earlier because they will be beat up for week 11.

Ok so you would want a week 10 game on a Saturday night (needs to be that day so they can get more people going to the game) and have a potential playoff game on a Friday night the next week? You are limiting a days rest and you could have a rivlary hangover loss for week 11. Usually teams know who they are playing for week 11 or have an idea and are scouting the other teams and possibly looking ahead.

Yes this is a great idea. I like seeing this game because both of these teams are your true private schools. They get a lot of talent but do not cheat to do it!
They are playing the game on a Friday night, and they have played it on Friday night for the past few years at the Rubber Bowl or Infocision. You sound like a Hoban player of the past few years talking about a hangover loss. Why not think of the week 11 kick-start that could also come from a big week 10 victory? I would venture that StV players and coaches don't think the way you do about a week 11 hangover
Pretty optimistic with that schedule. Who are the 6-7 teams you see Hoban beating? I see 2 possible wins but even that might be a stretch. You cannot win if you cannot score and I don't see Hoban scoring anymore than they did last season. 10 points a game will not win many games and that is the scoring average for Hobans offense the last 2 seasons (minus North and St Peter Chanel).

I would much rather have it on a Saturday night. There is more money to be made and more people will show up.
Here is the list on the website is is this the new group of coaches? What is known about them?
Assistant coaches: David Arbogast, Bernie Factor, Mark Frisone, Sonil Haslam, Norm Jesser, Erik Jones, Cornelius Parson, Paul Yappel
Freshman coaches: Tom Paris, Rahsheed Moore, Steve Motil, Peter Smith, Steve Veillette
Man, there's not one sure-fire win on Hoban's schedule. Every game's gonna be tough. I think they'll improve somewhat, though, and win 4-5 games in '12
