Nice addition to the staff. The offensive line coaching had been outstanding the last several years and just got even better...

It's a great move by both Art Bortnick and Lake Catholic. He is a very good position coach who now can concentrate on coaching and teaching. This sure will make the Benedictine-LC game even more interesting later this year.

Interesting move on both sides, all Lake neeeds is now is Bill Gutbrod. Art will do well at lake as an OL coach, I wonder if he will ever consider another HC job at this point in his career?

I guess Shaker Hts. didn't work out for Art, maybe that is an even bigger mess then what appears on the surface. Shame because that is a great paying teaching gig and there are good players in the halls. As a resident I would like to see them do well and what they need is a complete reset with a Coach that has the experience and track record. Lord knows they have the $s to pay for the right guy.

Auggie,

I wonder if Art will even get the chance to consider another head coach job, even at some small school with little success. The trend has been for many years is to hire a young, aggressive coach. I also wonder if he even desires to become a head coach anymore. I got the feeling all he wanted to do was coach football and not be bothered with all of the details of being a head coach that did not involve actual coaching. If I'm not mistaken, I think Bill Gutbrod was on the LC staff a few years ago. Maybe an LC poster can help.

Yes he was....it has been at least a decade or so since he left. I believe he was on the staff when Gibbons was head coach.

I hear Urban Meyer would like to join the LC staff once the pressure of the OSU job gets to be too much for him.....

Beating Lake Catholic once is a blessing, beating them twice in a row means your program is back in town.

In the early 2000's, Benedictine would of dominated everyone followed with Lake Catholic in 2001, late 2000's Mooney and Ursuline, now its up for grabs.

Is LC still looking for a Week 2 in 2013? Avon needs that week filled.

Brunswick is only a 1 year deal so I do believe the Cougars are open week 2 next year.

I don't agree with Katani

Everyone knows that when you enter the service academy, you have a 5 year committment. You should not get an exception just because you can carry a football. Also isn't there a war going on? Eric is a great kid who I personally have met but I think his first duty should be to his country....

Interesting. And I would agree 100%....as a patriot. fbrox must have served in our military. And if he did, I would like to thank him. You are a "hero", as all military folks are IMHO.

With that said. I will put forth this question to fbrox.

Would it not make more sense, to allow each soldiers "talent" dictate.....where he/she is deployed. If a great athlete, can recruit...10 other great leaders.....that also happen to play football........and 200 other kids who admire him to join the armed services, does that not make him very valuable........maybe exponentially........valuable to the cause???

Will the High School dropout who enlists for lack of better options.......contribute more???

He can contribute more by being a leader, salesperson.....

He doesn't need to get his left leg blown off to be an asset to the cause.

If your point is true, than OBAMA....the entire congress, and the House of Reps......should be donning army uniforms NOW. For they are making the decisions to go to war.

Everyone has their talents. They should be used accordingly.

The LC baseball team is state bound for the first time in 25 years! Down 3-2 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th, Zach Hawkins hit a walkoff 2 run blast over the left field fence to give the Cougars a 4-3 victory over Canfield last night in Hudson. What a year for LC sports. I can't wait to make the trip to Columbus this Thursday. LC will face DeSales at 1:00 Thursday @Huntington Park in Columbus.

Here is a video of the Hawkins walkoff last night.

Geat stuff lchman......

People can only ignore "facts" and "results" for only so long....

If I live in the East side of Cleveland.....I send my junior high "better
"athlete" to Lake Catholic....

...oops just checked Mooney's schedule, Lake Cath.....is still on it.

Let me rephrase.....send your kids to Eastlake North or Richmond Heights!!
