Do you really care what people think so much that you have to make lame posts like this? I am just posting what the vast majority of CJ and GCL fans who were at that game were thinking. If you are going to start that kumbaya stuff about the best team won and you cant blame the officials your on the wrong board.
Zeeman..you may have the weak conference right, but only a truly clueless person would say weak team. Playoff losses in the last 4 years have been to Kenton twice, Alter, and Badin. With wins over waynesville, kenton, taft, nch, chca, and cj. 1-2 versus kenton, won by 8, lost by 8 and one blow out. The Alter team the beat us was head and shoulders above the rest of DIV in 2009;and many say we gave them there toughest game. Badin beat us in OT. So we are 1-2 versus the GCL, with one OT loss and a loss to a team that destroyed the division on its way to a state championship. Forgive us if we are too dumb to feel intimidated by the big Catholic schools, we are afterall just simple country folk. But we are thankful teams rarely have their A game when they play us. Guess its better to be lucky than good. And I know of another saying too, it's better to keep ones mouth closed and thought to be a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt. I think that is one you should remember.
Why keep my mouth shut, because you dont like what I say? this is an OPINION board, get it, you give opinions and people debate those opinions. IMO Massie is highly overated every year because they play a weak schedule, that doesnt make it true, its just my OPINON. I also dont have much respect for a program that schedules teams they can beat 70-0, play somebody and the we can talk. Massie's success last year was awesome for you all but in my OPINION it wont happen again in the near future.
And in my OPINION you have opened your mouth and removed all doubt. Massie 8-2 last year and got a #3 seed playing a weak schedule. Fenwick goes 8-2 and doesn't finish in the top 8. So much for that tough GCL scedule, just my OPINION.
CM .. Fenwick league record 5-2. Record of non-league opponents 2-28. So in their case, even an 0-10 team (or two of them) proved to have relevance. I guess the difference is Fenwick (or an any GCL school) can upgrade their non-league schedule. They did that for the up coming year. So while they still have to win those games, they can hope to get good experience and points should they prevail. It sounds like your AD is not going to help you folks out in that department. You'll just have to win the regional again to shut everybody up. Ahh... what am I thinking that never happens on blog sights!

Keep in mind Fenwick played atleast 1 0-10 team (Oakwood) and I think Talawanda may have had the same....CJ went 7-3 and made the playoffs
I think Fenwick's non conference schedule was weak because their football program has just started to improve. I went their for my freshman year and transferred. They had one winning record the four years I was in high school. They have really improved the last couple years which I would think means the AD will schedule better non conference opponents.

As a GCL program, i think they can do better with scheduling than Oakwood.
The QB position is still a toss up between Kosak and Harrison. From what I've heard from the rumor mill, Harrison's one hell of an athlete. I don't think Kosak measures up well in that dimension. But though he lacks in athleticism, he's always had a decent arm. And to think that last year, this Cville kid was playing feeder team football and that he'd be playing varsity this year, is mind blowing to say the least. Although I don't see CJ relying heavily on the passing game this year with their backfield returning from last year, they will need someone who can handle the pressure of opening up the run. By the way, unless Harrison's as good as they say, he's gonna be shellshocked with the opener at Troy. That's one vicious crowd. The decision will come down to what does the CJ OC want out of his QB? A pocket passer or someone who can make something happen on the boot?
Ballgame, there's another Cville kid that you may have heard about, idk his name tho. He's a receiver, and he had a phenomenal performance at their last 7-on-7, recording 10 touchdowns throughout the day against teams like Sylvania North I believe. But I don't know what motivated the boys to come to CJ.

Motivation? Opportunity to play varsity football freshman year. He shopped around all the local schools and this was his best scenario. New, motivated coach...open QB spot...brings his own receiver to boot. Family can pay tution, though they would have paid for public school too. Not his first choice I bet but the best opportunity to start his athletic resume strong. Guess that outweighed staying in higher division. BTW: played Alter feeder football last year, not CJ.

How about this approach to this problem.
Two Leagues
Only rule Different is
League A the student has to live in a set bounty from fourth grade on No exception
League B live any place play any place
The other cville player and receiver is Tyler Traylor. Motivation I think would be a new young coach that players want to play for and an opportunity to have a passing game. A chance to play in championship games. Not something they were going to get in cville. Just my guess.

I agree. He would be opening with Troy and Marshall on the road, that can be a recipe for diaster.
I agree that CJ starting out versus Troy and TM could be difficult. I'm not sure what all TM has coming back but they've been building a quality program. Troy is definitely going to be a solid team this season.

What has killed CJ versus Troy is the size on the OL and DL, I dont imagine this year to be any different.
Expect this game to be a lot closer than last year. We lost our QB,both starting tailbacks, our top WR, top 2 defensive players, and some key lineman. I think this is a flip flop game.

Some might disagree with me but I don't think size was too much of a factor in the game. Sure when you compare sizes, it was pretty lopsided but the biggest factor in all of it was that the offense had not yet found its stride. If you look at the five or six boys that team had playing OL, minus Jones they averaged something around 210 or 215 lbs. But after the two game non scoring drought, they averaged somewhere between 250-300 yards rushing per game.
So I'm not sure that size was the reigning factor in the loss to Troy, just my thought.

I agree on the size comment. And jones was only what? 260 anyway. What made the line so effective was the ability to have every lineman pull. Both tackles and both guards could pull and they made huge plays off of pulls. The line situation is a big worry to me. The reason i say this is because it is hard to have such a quick, gritty line like cj had last year consistently in small school football. Those kids were all true linemen (not converted skill guys) that played effectively as a unit larger than their own individual statures. On that note, does anyone know if any of those linemen are playing in college. And also what is the line looking like this year
