Ahh, the Royal "they" seems to have reared their ugly head again. Don't worry JC, Fenwick knows exactly what the score is. They understand they play in the GCL North and have only beaten North foes twice since they joined the league. They are getting better but they have a ways to go. The talent they had when they beat CJ two years ago was some of the best they have had in years. But until they get consistent - in the same fashion Carrol and CJ need to improve - this is Alter's league. It's a bit early to predict the top seeds in Region 16 for 12 but hey it's all hot air from old farts until the kids start playing

They aren't a bad team and the school is improving every year, look at there basketball team who beat Alter twice....They just happen to play in a tough league vs. quality teams. The non-conference schedule could improve but with that said from where they were when they joined the GCL to where they are now, has shown giant strides

Man, you CM fans are haters! Just be happy with your success and quit dogging others teams, you beat one GCL team in your history and now you think you can pass judgement on everyone else.

I also noticed that the Fenwick detractors are both listed as Clinton Massie fans. Is there some history there? Don't know the geographics of the two schools but did big bad Fenwick steal some of their athletes?

OK here is the deal between the two schools. Did they "steal" athletes? No they have not. One of their Football coaches used to coach at Massie and when his oldest son became a freshman transferred to Fenwick. His son is now a Junior and another son will be a Soph, I think, He is still in contact with some parents in the district and stays in touch with some of our players. I have not talked to this coach in years but I here he promotes the catholic school system very well and discusses how many more opportunities kids have, especially at Fenwick, because of certain educational programs they have. Many times, from what i was told by parents, he told them about the athletes that Fenwick has compared to Massie and how much better their staff is at preparing their kids. That is what I know and now you have the rest of the story.

Darrin Howard interesting that someone state that the only reason he has only one D1 offer is because he is slow and has poor lateral movement and they are absolutly right. Darrin hasnt gotten better since he was a freshmen. He should be a beast the most dominate linebacker in the state and yet he is a little above average. I like the kid I believe he could be a nasty sob, but he not getting pushed hard enough to get better and is just riding on rep. The kid Brandon Payne they have to decide how they are really going to use him. I dont think he is an tailback he would be better suited as a fullback and put Darrin on the line as a pulling guard. then they should also put brandon as a Dtackle because he is quick off the ball which makes him hard to block. This would help CJ because they are going to get their doors blown off next year if they dont make ajustments.
Really!Put Howard on the LINE!
Are you nuts? Sound like you mite have a kid your trying to find a spot for! Get Real! Enjoy the athletes you have while you have them, quit whinning you ll be fine!

That could be, only time will tell. However I will predict the same miserable ending to CM's season when they face a multi dimensional offense such a Kenton had. That was was a sorry sorry game to watch in Piqua!!! The HC of CM didnt even attemp to throw it and get back in the game. Thats the problem with riding or thinking you can ride that power football horse all the way to glory......It is very difficult to win it all on a one way street. Jammin it down your throat has its place but being able to put it in the air is imperative. No Q? No problem! Work your off NOW!!!, in your gym!!! on the quick and screen game! Get your playmakers the ball any way you can.

Not talking about seeding. Only thing that matters is how you finish, massie won the region thus making them #1 team in the region and CJ was runner-up thus making them #2.

Massie's best player was out with broken ribs in the first quarter of the Kenton game. He was one of only two kids playing on both sides of the ball. He also had 30+ touchdowns on the year. Losing him in our one demensional offense wouldn't have been the same as Kenton losing Mauk in their multidemensional offense though. They seemed to run their offense through sooooo many people.

Massie will be back in position again as they return 16 starters.

CM was not the better team anyway..... CJ played like crap, and the officials (that sprinted off the field at the buzzer) was horrible ..... CJ was definately better, I believe they thought they had it in the bag based on film, done alot of out of charater offense and gave CM a reason to fight. Kenton showed how foolish the #1 seed in our district looked the following week.

Getting in is right!! 2 years prior when Badin went in as an 8 seed and routed the 1 seed 29-0 I believe showed that.

Here we go lets blame the refs... lot of questionable calls both ways so lets not go and blame them. Massie outplayed CJ live with it you lost

Facts are facts. They busted off that field when the coach from CJ approached them. I am not a Dayton native or resident, nor a "fan" per say of CJ or Massie, just a guy that went to multiple playoff game matchups of all divisions. So, I'm not crying for anyone. Stating a fact witnessed from a non-bias participant that evening. And the calls in that 4th quarter we're not consistant to how they worked the previous 3. And the next week @ Piqua proved there ability.

These gus needed to, the pass interference was the worst call I have ever seen. The CJ kid never touched him and the flag was in the air as soon as that ref could get it out of his pocket, this is the same ref that made three bad calls in a row. Like Xpert said, just stating facts.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha..love when people disrespect Massie, guess we will continue to get lucky year after year and play deep into the playoffs, beating supposedly superior teams. Maybe one of these years we will punch it all the way to Stark Co., but until then, you guys just make me smile.

Or maybe youll go back to being a weak team from a weak conference like your history indicates. Savor that one GCL win in your history, it might be a long time before it happens again

You are right, weak team weak conference and one GCL win. Of course most of our GCL losses have been bad ones. We only play GCL teams in the playoffs and the last time I checked those were pretty elite teams. Most CM fans take losses to the GCL and try to get better from them because we knew we were beat by a battle tested team. The CJ win this year was great but this was the weakest of the GCL teams that we have played. CJ had a good team but they lost the guts of that team with their QB and the safety that also caught the long td pass. That kid was the best player on the field for CJ. You return some good players but the real nucleus of the team had graduated. I also heard there are some pretty good recruiters in the Dayton area to watch out for.lol

Zeeman..you may have the weak conference right, but only a truly clueless person would say weak team. Playoff losses in the last 4 years have been to Kenton twice, Alter, and Badin. With wins over waynesville, kenton, taft, nch, chca, and cj. 1-2 versus kenton, won by 8, lost by 8 and one blow out. The Alter team the beat us was head and shoulders above the rest of DIV in 2009;and many say we gave them there toughest game. Badin beat us in OT. So we are 1-2 versus the GCL, with one OT loss and a loss to a team that destroyed the division on its way to a state championship. Forgive us if we are too dumb to feel intimidated by the big Catholic schools, we are afterall just simple country folk. But we are thankful teams rarely have their A game when they play us. Guess its better to be lucky than good. And I know of another saying too, it's better to keep ones mouth closed and thought to be a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt. I think that is one you should remember.

As was mentioned earlier, I believe CJ lost 20+ seniors (?starters) so while they have some talented kids they need to find out who they replace the kids that graduated with. In region 16, CM certainly would look good returning 16 starters from a regional champ. I'm sure there will be several surprises amoung the 29 teams in the region by week 11. But hope springs eternal with 6 months until the first snap .... even in the camps of the "irrelevant".

OK! I understand that everyone thinks CLinton-Massie plays a weak schedule. If you ask any of their coaches they will say the same thing. It is out of their hands! The administration will not change leagues and will not allow them to look for any other teams to play because 2 of their 3 nonleague schools our friends of the AD. Plus, their AD doesn't want to have to do too much work to look for different schools.

So Massie will keep playing their weak schedule and try to get thru the playoffs. Simple as that!

Their Ad has said on several occasions that it is OK to not host a playoff game and to sometimes not make the playoffs. WHY? It's less work on him!

Glad my son is done and doesn't have to fight this battle anymore and get scrutinized for winning!

I do have the upmost respect for all the GCL teams, you always have to play solid error free games to compete with them. The Howard kid at CJ showed alot of class coming back onto the field after the game to congratulate the kids that he had just fought so hard against. I know our kids walked away with alot of respect for him. I do hope that we get to match up again in the Regional finals, I think on paper CM and CJ should be the favorites to get back there. Each team must do there work this winter, spring and summer to get ready for the fall. Good luck Eagles next season.
