I saw that Kyle Kalis has been moved to guard for the Army All-American game. Reports are that he has looked good in practice.

He looked very good in the game too. I wouldn't completely rule out tackle at the next level, but he could be pretty special at guard.

Rivals.com by Dan Fox

With upcoming scholarship limits at Ohio State, Meyer will have to put a premium on quality rather than quantity - which means he can't afford to give up so easily.

While preparing for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, offensive tackle Kyle Kalis, the state of Ohio's top prospect, said he took a phone call from Meyer. Kalis, from Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward, said he told Meyer he appreciated the thought but that he remained committed to Michigan.

The remarkable part wasn't Meyer reaching out to Kalis, a Michigan commitment since July. It's that Kalis resisted when others didn't.

Quick question...

What is a "soft" verbal?

I think when you say I do, and you look around for something better after the fact, some might call that cheating by the individual.

Is it like BC proposed, Grant said yes, but is now looking for a better looking prospect? (I'm a BC grad, and I'm feeling spurned right now)

From my era, Andrachik and Grace. There's probably been 5-7 others in the last 20 years.

I don't feel that is a fair assumption on your part on what transpired with Grant/BC. Do you know the actual details? Reports I've heard is that he is very conflicted and has been honest with BC from the get go. Scout had a good article awhile back when the Sooners offered that kind of explained some of it. These schools promise these kids wonders then when things change, expect the kid to remain committed. Come on man! My son knows him and he is a good kid.

mtr, azwildcat and I are just having some fun with the soft verbal term. Honestly, I dont know the Grant situation and I never said this is what GRANT is doing. Just messing with the posters. Sorry if I offended you or ayone else. It was not my intent.

See all the little icons...good indications I am having some fun with the posters.

Kyle having fun firing up the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry...

Part of a Kyle Kalis interview on "This is Michigan Football Blogspot"

Tremendous: Speaking of phone calls, did you decide to answer it when Urban hit you up a few weeks ago?

Kyle: Well, it happened like this: I heard the phone ring one night and I saw it was a 614 number and knew who it was right away because it was right after a speech he gave. Before I had a chance to stop my mom, she had picked it up, so I had to talk to him.

Tremendous: What did you guys talk about?

Kyle: It was really awkward.

Tremendous (laughing at AWKWARD URB): What do you mean?

Kyle: I was half listening, pretty much saying "uh-huh" the entire conversation. I was being respectful but in the back of my mind I just wanted it to end.

Tremendous: Did Coach Hoke come up at all?

Kyle: Not really. He really only wanted to sell me on Ohio State.

Tremendous: Obviously you're not buying. I know it's been relatively documented, but why did you switch schools and describe the backlash you've faced.

Kyle: I mainly left after Coach Tressel left. I didn't necessarily commit to Ohio State as much as I did to Coach Tressel so when he left, I left. After that, the second I stepped foot on Michigan's campus and met the coaches I knew I was meant to be there. I felt more comfortable there than anywhere else, the family atmosphere that the coaches have built and all of the guys they've been bringing in.

Tremendous: What happened when you switched? How irrationally pissed were Ohio fans?

Kyle (laughs): Way too pissed. It was hysterical.

Tremendous: Any specific stories come to mind?

Kyle: None that I really want to tell.

Tremendous: Were they really that bad?

Kyle Kalis: They were just stupid. There are really a lot of stupid people out there. I'd get people telling me they wanted me to tear my ACL. I got plenty of threats. I know it was bad, but I gave my address out to about 20 people and told them to come find me. Nobody came.

Tremendous: Does that make you feel better about choosing Michigan?

Kyle: Yeah. It's fuel to the fire baby. November 27th is going to be ugly.

Tremendous: I know the answer, but why is it going to be ugly?

Kyle: There will be blood on the field and it won't be mine.

Tremendous: Thank you for the epic quotable that people will talk about for a long time now, Kyle.

Kyle: Quote it. Let them know.

He should probably just keep quiet and let his play talk for him. No reason to make it worse...

Yeah, the Urban Meyer stuff...kind of unwise. No need to poke the bear.

Everyone needs to learn the lessons taught by "Crash" Davis to Ebby Calvin 'Nuke' LaLoosh in "Bull Durham". The cliches come in real handy, Mr. Kalis. Learn 'em.

All-Ohio

Sorry if this has already been hammered (old news) but how credible are the All-Ohio selections anymore?

Please excuse my ignorance on the selection process but is it the OHSHCA or the AP that selects the players? Either or, omission of Kalis in particular completely dilutes any credibility...in my book anyway.

Also, let the kid (Kalis) shoot his mouth off all he wants, it's his life to live. One thing St. Edward should have instilled into each of us is to have the guts to carve our own path and make our own decisions.

The only colors that kid wears that should matter to anyone on this thread are the ones that will ALWAYS mean the most - Green and Gold.

Two reasons I hope the 49ers and Ravens meet in the SB...Boone and Nakamura.

Wow...what a REALLY good report. Every now and then, the local media surprises you. A real chance to listen to O'Toole and Flannery, see some of the kids at practice, and an outsider gets a taste of why the rivalry is important and special.

I have to go this thread to find out HD Woodson, just reopened this year.

Looks like a pretty nice building.
