If Colerain loses to X in 2012, do you think they'll re-up the "home and home"? With the tough sailing Caolerain has had versus X, I wouldn't be surprised to have them move on? Sad, since I enjoyed this matchup
(disclaimer: of course I enjoy X/colerain, as I'm an X fan, and X wins 80%+ of the time...)

I think they will due to the fact that nobody (out of conference) in Cincinnati wants to play either of the 2 teams in a non-conference game.
Nobody seems to be talking about him and I'm not sure why? but Mooney seems to me to be someone who could take the reins at QB. If he is half as good as his brother was we'll be just fine.
I refer you to post #107 in this thread where I provided a team depth chart and prediction that the QB battle will be between senior Mooney and junior Tensing.
The O-Line and offense overall has just been vastly improved with the return of athletic director John Sullivan to the coaching staff as offensive line coach!
Wow!! Sullivan is a great guy.
I was pleased when he became AD. His return to the O-line is great to hear.

Is there any information on who the possible opponent is for the Crosstown Showdown? Then I also heard St. X IS NOT playing in the Herbie but have decided to play Indy Cathedral again.
As far as the Crosstown goes, the Middletown posters are saying that they are playing X to the start the season..but I have not confirmed that.
I was certain you had seen the prediction based on your post that StX may need a running QB rather than a pocket passer to avoid a heavy rush due to a young inexperienced offensive line.
Even though the offensive line will probably only have 1 senior (Garrett) I think Sully will have the young FOOLS ready to protect Mooney or Tensing and bust open some holes for Hilliard and Glines.
Can't wait for camp to start. Go Bombers!

Reason: Put the lid back on that can of worms

I'll be ready for the Reds well before I'll be ready for St. X. It should be a very interesting seaon, though.

Thanks but Blue Rhino and a little birdie already told me. The rest I already knew.
Anyone with a name like Steeler is destined to play football.
He was eligible for varsity as a sophomore but Specht thought he needed to develop a little more before moving him up. I think he made the right choice. It couldn't hurt.
On coach Specht's team USA coaching staff is Rick Streiff head coach at Indianapolis Cathedral and Tom Bolden head coach at Colerain. Both will be opponents of StX in weeks 2 and 3 respectively. Add to that the fact that week 9 opponent is St. Ignatius head coach Chuck Kyle for whom Specht was defensive coordinator when Kyle was head coach of team USA in 2008.
It's just rumor right now but I heard from a current St. X teacher that there is unrest at their school because Urban Meyer coached Steve Specht, coached along side of him and is now talking to him about joining his staff at OSU. Again it's just a rumor but is St. X possibly heading into a new chapter under a new head coach and will they be as consistenly successful as they've been since Specht took over?
I don't see this happening at all. Could it? I guess. I just don't see it. Certainly hope not
I know it would mean making a great deal more than he does now but I think he enjoys the impact he has on high school players more than he would at college.
I had heard the rumors about Specht coaching TE's at OSU back when Urban first got hired, but have heard that it fizzled. Someone had told me if Herman from ISU didn't come he would take TE and Urban would take Offense, but since Herman is there Urban is taking TE's and Herman is taking Offense. This is just what I had heard, not sure the truth though so do not quote me.

lmao.
People at St. X aren't this dumb are they?
First off, Urban Meyer would never hire a coach with zero recruiting experience. Secondly, Specht has his kids just now entering high school. Lastly, even if Meyer wanted Specht there is literally zero open coaching positions.

I agree with most of what you say. However, there is some recent precedent with UC hiring Kerry Combs from Colerain with no college experience.

Tim Hinton is the TE coach. He was the final hire.
Below is the Buckeye coaching staff

In the fall of 2006 Specht and Coombs were at Rick's Tavern doing a live radio broadcast prior to their region 4 final. Specht, coming off a state championship season and sitting on a 37-2 record as a head coach, was asked if he would ever consider coaching at the collegiate level. His response was StX was his dream job and he was there to stay. Coombs immediately followed Specht's response by cautioning him to never say never. Coombs left for UC after that season.

Lots of successful high school coaches are hired in college sports. From good sources, Specht applied when the TE position opened but he eventually backed out to stay at X. Maybe they're not so dumb.
I can't wait to see the QB race to see who gets playing time. Specht has mentioned how the QB job is up in the air but everytime he says that, the QB isn't exactly the best to start. It's always good to have 1 definite and about 2-3 backups.
