I wasn't slamming you either. I answered your question. He visited OSU and is on their radar. He has also visited Michigan State for a game. Now that doesn't mean he will get an offer, but that was during his junior year of football so that is a good sign.
I expect him to get a low BCS offer at worst. I still think he is a mid to upper BCS level school guy though. Doesn't mean it will be OSU, Michigan, FSU or Miami though. Could be Iowa, Wisconsin, etc who I still consider pretty high.
But recruiting is impossible to predict as we aren't in their war rooms.
All the more reason for Mentor NOT to schedule them. McDowell has been good for a couple losses just in PA, let alone facing that juggernaut of Ohio. Since Mentor was the last of the four to schedule McDowell, this really makes little sense. This could be a four team. I would rather take my chances playing North (who is open Week 2) for a one-year contract at Mentor and then work on filling 2013 with more notice. That would serve the purpose of filling an open date, getting a home game, a big ticket since its a local opponent, and North is improving enough that it isn't crazy for them to get 4 or 5 wins...even without Gresko.
McDowell had been playing in the WPIAL down by Pittsburgh. They were forced to leave that conference which is similar to the NEOC in Cleveland, and probably better overall. This is the reason they are scheduling all these games. They will win their 5 games in their district and then they will have a chance in the others. They are a solid program with a ton of boys. They beat Cathedral Prep the last 3 years and C.P. was competitive with St. Ed's a couple years back and gave St. Ignatius a run for a half before Iggy pulled away. Mentor should be a favorite, but if McDowell has a typical year it should still be a decent game.
Yeah McDowell seems solid enough and I am fine with a 2 year deal. Gives us a fresh opponent and fresh stadium to visit.
The great thing is moving St Ignatius to week 2 and Euclid to week 3 in 2013. If this is how it is going forward, it adds a lot of flexibility for our AD to schedule exciting games. Week 1 is the easiest week to find an opponent so Iggy/Euclid would really be helping us out here. Plus I am sure Euclid would like that flexibility in week 1 scheduling as well.
With this shaping up to be a very good year for quarterback talent in the state of Ohio, as well as Urban Meyer pursuing a number of national QB prospects, this offer is very impressive at this juncture. Good for him.
Well I guess that confirms that they will offer and he isn't just on their radar. I had a feeling he would get the higher up offers and that the mid tier BCS schools would be the worst case scenario. Rivals has him being offered so they are on top of it. I would expect some more offers soon.
Hope he takes the OSU offer as he can redshirt and still compete for the spot for 3 seasons once Miller is gone. Congrats to Mitch!
Also apparently Trubisky was in Morgantown on Saturday visiting WVU and in Columbus on Sunday with OSU. Busy weekend for him and I expect many offers to come in before he even starts his senior season. That is unless he decides to commit somewhere like OSU and just shuts down the process.
You obviously know very little about Mentor's program.
And little about Mentor's schedule. St Ignatius is the only game on the schedule that Mentor won't be favored in. In about half of the games, Mentor will be favored by at least a few scores. With an inexperienced defense and a tough schedule (i.e. 2005-2010) it is very possible this team would only win six or seven games. But in the NOC the schedule has been watered down due to obligations of playing teams like Mayfield and Parma (along with the bottom dwellers of the NOC Valley).

Parma and Mentor tried to get out of playing each other as crossover games,
but both schools were not sure they could find a replacement for next season.
Mentor is way to good 2 play Parma and NOC was going let them out of the contract...
That's what I was told anyway

Interesting. In the several years of the NOC I never heard of teams looking to get out of crossovers. It would benefit Mentor to put a marquee team on the schedule, but changing it this late in the process won't be easy.
Mentor offensive coordinator Jeff Grubich takes Kenston head football coach position. This will be the third year in a row Trubisky has a different offensive coordinator. Will that effect him or the offense at all? I hope not. Will this effect the philosophy of 5-wide vs. 4-wide? I'm not sure how much that change in 2011 was Triv or Grubich.
Congrats to Coach Grubich! Always a good sign when other schools covet your assistants for higher up jobs. I don't expect it to really effect the team. The offensive coaching has never been a problem and they will find someone to plug in.

I am hoping the same thing! He could easily play 3 seasons. I saw the improvement from his sophomore to junior year. He works hard and will be even better next year and beyond. Coach Meyer knows what he's doing in making the offer. I hope he commits to OSU before next year so he can just concentrate on football.
You must be talking about Ohio State next year. Mentor should win at least 10 games including the playoffs. The defense will be inexperienced and will probably give up more points. Mitch will probably play into the fourth quarter in most games because of this, possibly increasing his stats and helping his cause for Mr. Football.
I think that Mitch Trubisky would be a great fit at OSU. A couple of athlete/QBs from Ohio are being recruited by OSU -- Malik Zaire and Jalin Marshall. Both are smaller (6' and 6"1") and have more major college offers. Zaire was also offered a scholarship and Marshall already committed to OSU. I still think Mitch should commit early to OSU. There are always going to be top prospects at your position. Look at Ricky Stanzi at Iowa -- he was 3rd on the depth chart with a QB his grade from Glenville ahead of him. Stanzi ended up starting three years -- I see the same with Mitch. Besides, Mitch's stats were off the charts this year and he received all the post season awards. I don't understand why Zaire and Marshall are receiving so many more college offers -- maybe they think they are the "sexy" choice because they are "athletes" with stats no where near Mitch's. Mitch has speed and can make all the passes. He is also close to a straight-A student.

Coach Triv said he based the 5-wide on the talent that he had this year. With Kovach, Wenzel, and Daugherty at RB, he may look to have a 4-wide set some next year.

We can only hope so. But Kovach continued to prove he was a reliable back last year and the offense still ignored using him or any other RB. If I were any of the above three, I would be sure to work on receiving skills as it may take an ability to catch the ball to get on the field.

Freshman Daugherty was told he needed to gain more weight to be a regular as a receiver (hint, hint). Also, Foreman is not sure about playing football next year -- one day he is, the next he isn't -- but right now it is basketball season. With the injuries at WR this year, hopefully he plays.
It's a recent trend with that point though. It is mostly basketball players coming over to football and those guys aren't going to be DE's.
I have said for years that Mentor needs to work on the defensive side of the ball from the youth levels up though. Too many of the kids want to be in the high profile offense and I think we need at least a good D to finally win it all. Last good D we had was 2006.
In youth football -- MYFA (1st thru 6th grade) -- they do because they have weight limits for skill positions. When they get to junior high that changes because there is no weight limit. Although, in junior high, many play both offense and defense. This year's freshman team had three two-way starters -- Matsko (RB, LB), Tankovich (WR, CB/S), Tomko (WR, S). Unfortunately, all were skill positions.

Real simple ...he is no way near the athlete they are and the Zaire kid is a better passer with a potential to be lights out at the next level. Not sure it will be at tosu though.
Urban Meyer knows a little bit more about college football than zmonsterknight on Yappi. So him offering Trubisky in January more than a year before signing day tells you all you need to know.

You can have your opinion. You obviously have not watched Trubisky enough to see his strength and speed. He has several TD runs over 50 yards. This past year as a junior was his first as a full-time starter and he was D-I POY. Next year, he will be even better -- the top QB in Ohio. Urban Meyer is smart to try and lock him up early. OSU will still be able to use the others -- just not at QB.
