I thought Cincy was locked... I had to pay my kid 10 bucks on that bet at halftime.

Yea your right STAIN.. its hard to find kids and parents who will stick it out. APS is a joke beyond belief.

will not say that it is completely a joke yet, but until I see that these clowns downtown are willing to do their jobs, it will become more of a joke and they will continue to read ridiculous articles in the papers about transfers and things that just make them look as incompetent as they are.

First game my arse - some don't check it at all. Several don't even check enrollment dates of student-athletes which would clue an AD into who may not be eligible when it comes to transfers. There are kids playing City Series basketball right now who have not had the proper paperwork completed by the school's AD to be eligible.

All the more reason to have someone downtown whose sole responsibility is to check these things! Additionally, I realize that ADs in most schools don't teach many, if any, courses, but in APS they teach mostly a full schedule, so it is not their only thing they have ot do during the course of a day, but this is all the more reason why there should be someone whose sole responsibility is to be checking eligibility and residency requirements so that there is never the question in anyone's head.

Good point. It only starts to matter when it's time to register for the state tournament and the AD has to send a form to OHSAA certifying eligibility.

As of several weeks ago none of them had any college offers either. Surprise surprise!!

So what is up? IS BEasley leaving, or being non-renewed at East? And what will be going on at Firestone this winter? Does anyone think that the APS could non-renew Flossie this year? A big reason that the board voted to keep him last year was because of the late time of the year and the season about to start. What about now?? This could get interesting. Remember that the Board put restrictions on Flossie during the season, but they only operate on annual supplemental contracts for coaches, so those things won't necessarily go through this year. What do you all think? What do you all think-a-dink-a-dink about this? Spit on it!

Flossie is going no where. He wasn't kept because of the late timing involved but because he was backed by his principle, parents, and teachers at Firestone. The board looked into the situation and found no reason to non-renew him other than a beef the Super had with him. What would make you believe he should be moved after a 5-5 season in which a certain people openly claimed he would be lucky to win one game?

Just throwing out some banter on here. I would venture to think the same thing, that he would be back, but you must forget, we are talking about APS here.

From my knowledge, they wanted Dowdy to make a decision at the All-Star Game to hopefully spark an ongoing tradition at the game of players commiting to their college choice. I think it was an excellent idea. Kudos to Brophy and Jake for coming up with that.

As far as the commitment goes, Dowdy's top 2 were Cincy and Maryland and chose Maryland over Cincy because of the academics and the possible resources in the D.C. area which makes sense because he wants to study business and accounting. The change of heart came when he started hearing rumors of Coach Edsall getting fired and the loss of 8 athletic programs at Maryland in addition to loss of practice time due to poor academic success from the football players. I feel Dowdy made a great choice by de-commiting and choosing Cincy.

As far as Boise goes, Dowdy did not commit at the game to try and get Boise to make a decision. He had alreday planned for the commitment to take place. Now on the other hand if Boise would've came through with an offer I wouldve expected a de-commitment from Maryland and verbal to Boise.

But anyways, congratulations to this young man. His uncle said he's already down in Cincy and starts classes this week. He obviously must be a mid year grad which I did not know. Good for him.

I'm told Beasley's situation is no more settled than a month ago but nothing has been said or done. In typical APS fashion, they will wait until the last minute to "non-renew" him with no thought to the offseason program and such and turn East into the next North Vikings. When will administrators understand that changing coaches in May, June, and July is one of the most awful things you could do.

Then I will make the decision for her........BEasley gots to go! Horrible football for his tenure there. Had a few teams that could score like Tha Bank used to, but overall, they have hugged more nuggets than McDonald's!

Haven't heard a Bank reference in awhile.

How could it be resting in her hands? She's the one that started the issues, I think her decision was made. The move needs to be made now, one way or the other, for the sake of the kids. Lame duck coach = disaster in the ACS.

Is Powers going anywhere? If so, I think Buchtel should hire Kemp Boyd for the job. He has been a very good DEF CO and is probably ready to run the show. What teams should be at the top of the city and what happened Garfield?

The hot rumor is that he is headed to Canton McKinley.

Buchtel, Firestone, and (gulp) Kenmore should be the contenders. If Powers does leave Buchtel who knows what will happen there. Garfield is a hot mess. IMHO, they will continue on their downward spiral.
