Greenville Outlasts Riverside Stebbins 39-28
By Bryant Billing
DAYTON- They can't all be exciting. Some can't even be remotly entertaining. That was what the Stebbins and Greenville game was like. A bunch of missed shots, turnovers gallore, and a tiny crowd. In the end, the Greenville Green Wave (12-9) went away with the 39-28 win over the Stebbins Indians (4-17).
It was boreing from the start.
Greenville went out in front quickly 8-0. The Green Wave controlled this quarter and forced the Indians to turn the ball over on almost every possession. Stebbins didn't even score until there was twenty seconds left in the quarter.
Stebbins came back, though, and made a game of it.
Stebbins finally started to make some shots, and they cut Greenville's lead to 18-11 with two minutes left in the second quarter. Greenville had a 18-13 lead at the end of the first half.
Greenville started the third quarter off on an 8-0 run that all but burried Stebbins cause. A Nic Warren basket with twenty seconds left gave the Green Wave a fifteen-point lead at 30-15.
Greenville coasted through the fourth quarter, as they went away with the 39-28 win.
There is not much you can say about a game like this. Stebbins looked like a team from week one. They couldn't pass, they couldn't shoot, they couldn't dribble, they grew tired quick, I could go on and on.
Greenville dominated inside with Mac Fiely and Chris Lockhart. They really didn't have to score much, because neither team was scoring much. Nic Warren also had a good day for the Green Wave. He has a nice shot.
Greenville now faces the 18-2 Wayne Warriors this Friday, February 15, at the University of Dayton Arena. The game is at 7:00.
Individual Scoring: Stebbins- Brad Krzarich 3; Matt Caterel 9; Ray Scriven 2; Bryson Criddell 2; James Tyus 9; Mike Osborne 3. Greenville- Nic Warren 10; Cale Marker 5; Zach Guillozet 5; Tripp Davis 3; Ryan Boyer 2; Chris Lockhart 8; Mac Feily 6.
