Twin Valley South Outlasts Brookville 52-46

BROOKVILLE- No matter how hard Twin Valley South tried, Brookville kept keeping up with them. But only one person can win a marathon. In the end, a Ryan Innis three-pointer with forty-five seconds left broke a tie and put Twin Valley South on top. That turned out to be the turning point for the Panthers (16-3) as they went away with the 52-46 win.
Twin Valley South went out early 8-2, but Brookville responded with a 8-0 run to take a 10-8 lead. Travis Strebig made a shot with ten seconds left in the first that tied it up at 15.
The second quarter was the quarter that could have been for both teams. Nobody was able to get a shot off, and a lot of turnovers occurred. Twin Valley South won the quarter 9-6.
Then the Panthers turned it up a notch.
Twin Valley South started the quarter on a 9-2 run in the first three minutes. Brookville battled back, though. A David Sievers basket brought the Blue Devils within three at 33-30. Seivers made two free-throws in the closing seconds of the quarter to give the Blue Devils a 35-33 lead at the end of the third.
Then Ryan Innis saved the day for Twin Valley South.
Two back-to-back baskets by Innis put Twin Valley South up 40-35 quickly in the fourth. Brookville came back as Braden Kindell tied the game at 44 with 1:44 to go in the game. Innis sank a beautiful three-pointer with forty-five seconds left to break the tie. After that Brookville resorted to fouling and the Panthers made their free-throws. Twin Valley South left with a 52-46 win.
Close but no cigar for the Brookville Blue Devils. Take a look at the team shooting stats when you can. The are almost identical. Twin Valley South just controlled the momentum and ate time off the clock. When they had to make a shot, they did. Brookville never got a real lead on Twin Valley South when they went ahead. Their biggest lead of the night was two. On the other hand, Twin Valley South had a ten point lead in the third quarter.
The jump shot was a much valued asset tonight. Both teams survived from the play of their guards. Most of the shots were from more than five feet out. Twin Valley South was led by a strong second half from Ryan Innis and Clint Spitler. The two combined for five three-pointers and a total of 34 points. Brookville kept it close from the clutch play of Kyle Barnett. He delivered when the Blue Devils needed him.
Brookville dropped to 10-8 on the year with the loss.
