Perfect Game National Underclass Showcase in Fl

Just curious who from Ohio will be attending the Perfect Game National Underclass Showcase in Ft Myers Fl, Dec 28-30.
My son is going and I will be coaching a team, so just wanted to see who else would be traveling down for that.

Just contact Perfect Game to see if they have openings on the roster, you do not have to be a part of a team, they will put you on a team. Glad to hear that others from Ohio will be there. See you all there and good luck.

My son is Bryan White a Jr from Wheelersburg

I'm sure a lot of great players will be there, but a lot of great players won't be there because of other sports and/or heavy cost. A friend of mine's son got an invitation and told me it's $549 just for the showcase. Throw in a couple cheap plane tickets to get there, a couple days' worth of meals and hotel rooms, and you're looking at $1,500. Not an easy number to swallow for folks in the real world, especially for something that may or may not lead to something down the road.

Well I think most of us live in the real world, because we all live in the same world, some just make decisions that others would not or can't. Some make sacrafices that other would not or can't. Some things are more important to some than others, but all the same world. Good Luck to everyone going and those that are not going, great or not great.

Glad you have the means and decision-making ability to make such a trip in the real world. Money spent on your children is always well-spent, regardless of how much or any outcome that might follow. My point is merely this ... For an event that will promote itself as including many of the top players in the country, some of those players will be there, but many won't be for financial and other sport reasons. You'll have a good number of players there who really aren't at that level ability-wise, but they can and want to pay, so they go. Nothing wrong with that, but it is what it is.

I agree. Also, you can't help but wonder if many of these "showcases" are more moneymakers for the promoters rather than getting the players a good chance at getting noticed. I'm sure some are very legit, and this one may be one of them, but I always heard that the legit ones are the ones that don't charge a lot because they want it to be available to as many good players as possible.

I do not take any money for coaching a team, nor have I every paid for a showcase for both of my boys, Area Code Games, East Coast Professional Showcase, but if I was going to or had to pay, Perfect Game would be the one I would invest in, that seems to be the one that college coaches and scouts look at the most, it is ran very well, also, we went a few years back and I coached then, and my youngest son got hit in the arm by a first rounder last year from Georgia, there were about 20-30 pro scouts watching all three days.

This is a quality showcase.Save your $$ if you are not a D1 prospect, throw near 90, have under 6.8/60 speed or want to play in the southern part of the United States.Northeastern Ohio boys need to catch the eye of "Fish" from the Buckeye Scout and play high power summer ball and you will be found if you are a player.

There is another perfect game showcase in Cincy around June if you feel compeled to be seen by D1 scouts from the South.

What helps more is having an "agent" doing the leg work getting your name out to colleges.Every college each year has needs and looking for talent.
If your a Junior, get your name out to coaches, hopefully you were not a knucklehead in high school and developed bad grades and get your ACT/SAT
scores in and get regestered with Clearing house.

Only top pitchers need not worry as if you throw near 85 and up and proven you can get people out, your in as long as you have grades.Position players
have to stand out with hiiting, throwing and running abilities to play college ball.

Brandon Howard ran a 6.90 sixty which was the best time overall from the boys who went down from SW Ohio. It was the 24th best overall out of about 500 players.

Bryan White of Wheelersburg HS, Jr, made the Top Prospect Team.

The top catcher was a kid from Jacksonville Fl, Austin Maddix, big kid, threw a 1.76 pop time, and jacked one over the wall first time up to bat in the top prospect game, first rounder for sure.

I was very impressed of the turnout of Ohio players at the showcase, a lot of talent from Ohio

20-30 very talented players from Ohio and I think there were between 500-550 players at the showcase, but that is a great turnout from Ohio

Do you think the experience and exposure was worth the expense of the trip? Could that amount of money be better spent locally with lessons or trips to colleges you are interested in for their winter camps?

Good question, Logitech. Also, these 20-30 players from Ohio that went to this showcase - has any of them gotten offers from any of the scouts that were there?

Offers

Hometeam, keep in mind that kids are not going to be receiving "offers" from colleges, until the end of May at the earliest. And those will be offers for ONLY your top D1 prospects.

Here is the link to the Top Prospect Players that played on Sunday. A few from Ohio. Also, you can check all players stats on their website if you search by their name, it will bring up a picture and give their stats, etc.
