2012 Football schedule
Any word on the 2012 football schedule?
I assume the usual teams to include GCL, Eds, Lou Trinity, Indy Cathedral, and no more Hamilton or Northmont in weeks 2 and 3.
Dallas Jackson of Rivals thought that we could possibly be playing Gilman or Oscar Smith in the Crosstown Showdown. Any truth to that?

According to tristatefootball.com it doesn't matter who they play, this is the year! You can find the article and schedule here- http://www.tristatefootball.com/arti...articleid=3825
but I thought I would highlight some of it.
COACHING: This will be John Rodenberg’s fifth year at the helm for Moeller and you can already see where his emphasis has been felt. The coach has made it known that you when with size up front and top-notch athletes doing the work behind them. As good as eight wins a year looks on his resume, the alumni expects more out of this program. Rodenberg will remain steadfast in his approach and if the fans just exercise some patience and common sense they will see that they hired the right man for the job. Patience and common sense?? That is funny that JR speaks of common sense, as he always uses common sense when talking to the media!
DEFENSE: Look for Jimmy Rodenberg to have a big senior campaign at linebacker. Wow are we that thin at LB?
FINAL TAKE: Rodenberg’s squad will be fine offensively. The difference between Moeller being good or great will be their ability to stop the run. The Crusaders allowed 860 yards rushing (286.7/game) in three playoff tilts last season. Well couldn't stop the run with some pretty good football players in the front 7. So what does the front 7 look like this year? Who else is back besides Jones?

I think the defense will be fine with Lippy back at the helm and not Rodenburg running it. Rodenburg did not give up the position because he was operating a dominant defense. Lippy will have these guys ready to play. It's great to see him back at Moe.

JR will have his hand in this, trust me! This is all smoke and mirrors for him to try to buy some more time. He was feeling the pressure, so he went out and got some guys that will get the alumni expecially the "old timers" excited.

I hope you're wrong. I don't think Lippy would take the job to be a puppet for Rodenburg. Whatever the reason it was to bring him on staff, I think it's a step in the right direction.

I like the Gilman game, good program from Baltimore. Ohio State fans might remember Stan White Jr., he played with our own Ryan Hamby('01) in Columbus. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Stan White Sr. is their head coach.
I know from reading recruting websites that they have at least one big time recuit by the last name of Poggi. I believe he's a TE, DE.
These guys play the other MD/DC Catholics like DeMatha, Good Counsel, Gonzaga Prep and so on.
Detroit Central Catholic had a kid this past season sign with Michigan and we should be familiar with past games against Brother Rice. This is another good program, can't be thrilled with the ride to Detroit, but not an excuse for losing.
Best wishes to this edition of THE Archbishop Moeller HS Football program! Go get em', boys.

Any idea of the potential starters other than the returning starters? I hope our QB plays like a senior this year and learns when he needs to throw the ball away and to learn to tuck the ball a little better when he's scrambling. I'm sure there will be improvement and I hope his arm in good shape. I just have no idea what the defense is going to look like besides Shane Jones and Logan Kelleher.

Spencer had an impressive junior year on the diamond and looks to have fully recovered from his arm injury.
On the defensive side of the ball, Jimmy Rodenberg returns, Kraus in the defensive background and I think Hubbard and Benzinger will be very nice upgrades in the backfield as well.

Spencer was a DH all year. He didn't spend any time on the field other than running the bases; or trotting around them as he did 5 times. Hell of an athlete. Arm is still suspect however. I seriously doubt Benzinger will start as he'll end up ticking off a coach with his mouth and 'tude'.

Remember where you are....
Anyways, I hope to hear some more details about the defensive scheme, as we close in on the regular season. I can easily see some of Jeff Gaier's 'prized bulls' filling in on that unit. That 2014 class of wrestlers are something special.

If you EVER went to a Moeller JV basketball game, you'd understand my comment. Good luck!
