Thanks for the story. Sounds like the district should have waited and had Chaney join OHSAA next year, all sports at same time.

Their division should be based on how many boys they have, whatever the number is they can choose from is what their division is. If they only have a small
Amount there is no reason they should be D2 no matter how that affects boardman or whoever elseís playoff points, but if they have D2 number in boys then they should stay D2

I'd be angry if I was a team in D5 R17

The OHSAA continues to be a clown show. Seems that I hear story after story about people either trying to get clarity or actually getting clarity from the OHSAA then subsequently being screwed by the OHSAA. They really are a poorly run organization when it comes to clarity on compliance.

They struggled with niles, don’t bet on them even winning a game in the playoffs anyway

East is recognized as having 482 boys on the OHSAA site making them D2 in Football. They're competitive balance number (if that stays??) was 47 bringing them to 529 boys.

Chaney is recognized as having 234 boys on the OHSAA site but they don't have Varsity Football.

The cutoff for Division 5 is 210 boys. You do the math. Must be some serious fudging of the numbers to drop East that low.

Doesnít take a mathematician to figure there is something fishy here. So east # is 529 and Chaney, who doesnít have football is 234. That gives east 295 boys and anything else seems like enrollment manipulation. Ohsaa would be giving them a break when they donít deserve one but like others have mentioned they only have 30-40% chance of making playoffs, regardless of division.

East would make noise in D5 but they won't have the points to get in barring a huge upset from here on out.

The only football playing public school in Youngstown being in Division 5? I seriously doubt that the OHSAA would allow East to drop that low, but I suppose that something was presented to them for them to entertain the idea.
