http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...-New-York.html

So my little suggestion would be that both California & New York State secede from the Union with the caveat that regions within both states would be allowed to vote whether to stay in the USA or go with the newly independent progressive states of NY or CA. My guess is that Western NY & California north of San Fransisco would opt to stay in the US.

The smaller and even BLUER independent states of CA & NY would then have a "common wealth" relation with the rest of the country. Their citizens could enter the USA freely and we could visit them freely. However, settling in each others country's would NOT be permitted beyond a ONE YEAR "adjustment" migration period where productive conservatives & libertarians would probably flee the peoples republics of NY & CA and butt hurt Liberals from the greater USA could stream to their new socialist paradises! After a year, any further permanent movement would be handled by each nations existing immigration laws (eg, open borders into CA & NY strict restrictions on non-productive peoples entering the USA).

After the inevitable implosion of NY & CA the USA could take the territories back as "vassel" states (ok, this part is wishful thinking).

At least in this way EVERYONE would be happy!
If you take out the 8 counties that make up the island New York is located and Erie County where Buffalo is located and the 54 other counties give Trump a 126K vote lead over Hillary in a state that leans left. The big cities are the only places where Hillary won.

The statistics keep proving that our founding fathers were geniuses in how and why they developed the Electoral College. It works, and that is killing the Progressive Left.

I'm realllllly sure you'd be singing the praises of the Electoral College if Trump had won the popular vote but lost the electoral count.
Hey mud.....trump won! Can't wait for him to start undoing Obamas mess!

Yes, we know. You want as much blocking as possible. Let me guess, when the republicans tried this with Obama I am sure you thought it was un-american didn't you?

Problem is if trump keeps having successes the republicans will jump in line behind him and so will more and more Americans. Then some of the dems too.

Exactly right Moedude. At the risk of oversimplifying things you can look at Hillary's support as primarily coming from the economic elite in the big cities and along the coasts and the mass of poor folks in the urban centers beholden to ever bigger government handouts.

The democratic party has taken on the politics of the old Roman Republic where bribing the "masses" was necessary to secure power. Throw in voter fraud and block voting in the big cities and you have the recipe for a "popular" vote victory.

The point is that Trump won a landslide victory over a wide swatch of the USA and that Hillary's support was amazingly concentrated. It was almost as if the "Hunger Games" had come alive with a handful of large corrupt urban centers dominating the nations politics through the brute force of numbers.

A lot of us recognize how brilliant the founders were in creating this amazing republic. Since they were working from a script in which the infant United States was a nation of 13 separate countries the electoral college was a brilliant way to maintain minority, cultural & geographic rights for ALL the colonies.

Many of us also recognize that DEMOCRACY, in its purest form is a terrible way to govern. You can't have 50.1% of a population always dictating to 49.9% of the population. That's a recipe for disaster. Democracy needs to be modified to include things like the electoral college and super majority voting to make it work over the long haul.

Thumbs down

I can't believe Mud Britches is still crying "Popular vote!" Lol.

Clinton beat Trump in California by the same margin as she won the popular vote. Trump never even campaigned in California. California had NO major Republicans even on the ballots lol. It's been explained several times, several ways, and this clown is still harping on it lol.

You project onto others with a greater intensity than an IMAX movie is projected onto the screen at the theater.

Trump is a Democrat pure and simple.

Advocate for more government spending and protectionism, just to name a few of his big government policies.

I love to hear the Republicans continue to defend this man, while being outraged when the democrats employ the same big government policies.

On the other hand, why aren't Democrats supporting the government knows best policies being proposed by Trump, as they do when Democrats make the same proposals?

Food for thought, by in my opinion just the same old typical hypocrisy from from parties.

The Electoral College and bi-cameral legislature concepts were the primary reasons that the 13 Colonies were able to unify against Britain and form a nation. They are the only reason we have stayed together. States' rights in a representative republic. The advocates of nationwide Popular Vote primacy in determining the POTUS are exclusively either the power-hungry or their attendant morons
