Indeed it is. That was always a major debate in college where 1/2 of the student body was from Ohio (pop), and 1/4 of the student body was from the East Coast (soda). The other 1/4 probably laughed at us.

Another funny one I remember was a guy from Philly and a guy from the eastern shore of Maryland pronouncing water as "wooter" (pronounced like the two "os" in wood).

No, I haven't incorporated it into my speech - yet.
My grandma always said "yinz." She was born in Gary, IN but spent her formative childhood years in Farrell, PA before moving to Massillon, OH.

She also used to call it Cincinnata, and motorcycle didn't have an "r" when she said it.

I usually say "you guys," but I will occasionally mix in "youse" or "y'all."

Not so sure it's not the other way around. I answered pop, and I'm from Ohio, but the quiz had me with an East Coast dialect.

Geographically speaking, I'm pretty sure there's a large portion of the country that uses the term pop.

On mine what is surprising is the amount of Great Lakes dialect that shows up in the metro areas of the west coast. San Diego, LA, SF, Seattle all show up with hot red on my dialect map.

On my quiz, it seemed to indicate that the answer 'yard sale' was the big, red flag signaling an East Coast dialect.

I haven’t lived in the Pittsburgh area for a long time but went to grade, hs and college near there. There are things I used to say but do not now (Yinz guys) but I still pronounce many words like a PIttsburger. For instance my parents used to say “red up” as in clean you room I still say that if I don’t catch myself, also gum bands for rubber bands. Interestingly I was on a business call to someone in ILlinois recently and in the middle of the call she asked what part of WEst PEnn I was from, totally out of the blue, he said the dialect was clear to her.

I obviously didn't take the quiz and took a best guess at my responses.

First time I went to Georgia I attended a backyard barbeque. Someone opened a cooler and asked if I wanted a coke. I said yes. They said, "We got Dr. Pepper and Orange Crush. What would you like?"

Speaking of which, is it a cooler, an ice chest, or something else?

Fairly common throughout the South actually. More common in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Louisiana than Georgia.

Surprised the heck out of me though. I think I had the Dr. Pepper.

Toledo - Akron- Des Moines Grew up half a mile from Lake Erie and twenty miles west of Cleveland went to southern Ohio to College and forgot to go home. When I called about my twenty fifth class reunion I was told that I had gotten a southern accent. From the looks of the towns I guess I am just a little messed up
