2020 Presidential Race

Doesn't appear anyone noteworthy will be challenging Trump from the GOP, but it would be funny to watch Flake or Kasich try.

So far, the Democrats have:
Confirmed declarations: Julian Castro and Tulsi Gabbard
Soon-to-be-declared: Kamala Harris
Likely: Beto O'Rourke and Elizabeth Warren
Maybe: Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden

I believe a Biden/O'Rourke ticket would challenge. Both have the ability to pull from Trump and seem moderate enough to most Midwesterners.

Probably not...Ö Both Beto and Biden are big government democrats who would increase federal government control of schools, commerce, healthcare, and not address immigration. Trump would eat them alive. That's not to say Trump is guaranteed a win, but they will be damaged and face an even more divided electorate that would insist on investigations and harassment on every policy proposal. Trump would also not go quietly into the night if he lost.

We will be more divisive and partisan for the foreseeable future.

I thnk there's a parallel to 2016. Then all these Republicans lined up, 18 I believe, because they all thought that Hillary, the presumed Dem. nominee, would be easy to beat. Now for the 2020 race, all these Democrats are jumping into the preidential pool beacuse they think Trump would be easy to beat. IMO, Trump is not going to seek re-election and there will be a tight race between Nikki Hayley and Kasich for the GOP nod.

Biden polls very well with suburban voters and the working middle class. Trump is bleeding support there, especially in the suburbs, as the midterm results showed. A Biden/O’Rourke ticket would be very tough for Trump to beat IMO, especially in states like WI, MI and PA — and Trump needs those states to win. O’Rourke would help with progressives who find Biden too moderate.

Trump beats Bernie and probably Kamala.

Biden has the advantage of name recognition and a high approval rating. I donít know what itíll look like post-Super Tuesday, but Biden will probably start strong in the early primaries.

I agree with this. Not so much because of Beto but because of Biden.

I think the Democrats are in trouble.

First, they're going to act like idiots in the House for the next two years.

Second, there going to be a huge fight between the semi-rational and perhaps Biden-supporting wing of the party and the SGW lunatic wing of the party with about 30 candidates.

Third, the Greatest Woman Politician In American History, and twice defeated, Hillary Clinton will demand a role no matter what happens.

Fourth, Democrats continue to believe that there is no possible way Donald Trump could ever be elected President.

And? Multiple people here predicted ludicrous results on midterm night and got embarrassed. In fact, I was mocked by multiple users for those predictions and ended up the most accurate of anyone

How do you know that Trump is bleeding support in those areas? Obama lost 63 HoR seats in 2010 to the Reps, yet won the 2012 election with no problem. I think you are projecting here, as I wouldn't use midterm elections to judge the next presidential election...

Comparing this past midterm election and that midterm election makes no sense.

2010 turnout: 82 million
2018 turnout: 108 million

2018ís midterm turnout was near that of a presidential election year. All scientific analyses of results point to Trumpís support in suburbs eroding:

https://www.npr.org/2018/11/27/66872...wung-elections
https://fivethirtyeight.com/features...s-not-so-much/
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...mp/1921590002/

Democrats massively overperformed there as surbuan residents, especially white women, moved away from Trump

My point is that the political pundits rarely use the midterm elections to determine the next presidential election, since history shows that there is no correlation. However, since the last one reinforces your biases, I see why you are so giddy about using it. When it comes to Trump though, I wouldn't count him out based on midterm election results...
