Edgewood @ Harrison

Ok, itís time to get into he meat of the SWOC. Whatís it gonna be?

I have it a bit simple in my mind. I think Harrison is maybe not as good as last year, and I think Edgewood is a bit better than last year.

At Harrison makes it a closer game but Edgewood should walk away with a win and some grass stains on those new stealth white uniforms.

Harrison is down about 5 lineman between offense and defense and plugging holes. Harrison has a lot of skill guys but is lacking size where they need it. I think this will be a high scoring game and will come down to the defense that makes a couple stops and turnovers. I think Edgwood is weak on the offense line and will be tested. Barring harrison making defensive coaching moves like they did with EC and Anderson i think harrison could make it interesting.

Edgewood no problem. Harrison doesnít have enough up front on defense. And offense is all one read then run. Only way it close is if Edgewood canít cover on the back end.

That's why they lead the league in rushing.

Thatís what I was going to say. They ask the line, backs, and TEs to cover a pretty technical arrangement of blocking assignments. Break down usually occurs when assignments need to be adjusted on the fly or are busted all together. Coming straight at you, there is nothing weak about this line.

Uh, game will come down to, will the 2,6'3' 225 lb DE/LB, Evan Brown and Justin Hiltbrandt take the right angles and keep the big QB in the pocket. QB doesn't seem to be that fast, but he runs a lot. Both of these kids are way aggressive and sometimes teams take advantage of that. Both of these kids are great players.

You play the teams on your schedule. You don't have two backs in the same backfield with more yards tan all the others if your O-line is weak. That was just a stupid statement

I would venture to guess that Franklin and Badin's defenses are just as good as Harrison's.

Harrison has the best passing offense in the league by far, however when we played a strong team like EC we couldn't complete a pass. When we played D3 teams like Ross and Butler we looked unstoppable on both sides of the ball. We know the edgewood RBs are good but how will they and their O-line do when they're actually tested against a team on their level. Early on in the season during scrimmages I heard a lot of concern from the edgwood faithful of the O-line and now they play 4 cupcakes and all of the sudden these O-lineman are 1st team all conference....? BTW you'll understand what I mean when you play WW who is actuality down this year. Also, don't forget Edgewood is in the SWOC, not exactly a football powerhouse conference.

Uh Edgewoods 2 guards are probably the best in the league as a tandem. You cant lead the league in rushing by a whole lot, unless kids are blocking. Only way Edgewood loses is giving up big plays.Harrisons recievers are all very good and the QB can sling the ball with the best of them.Edgewood has to control the ball and not get beat deep. Weather could be a factor. Uh, look out for Harrison next year, QB and 3 of the 4 recievers are back, 13 starters back next season.

Hahaha we will cross that bridge when we get to it. Funny that on the way to the first winning season in how long someone from LM is actually getting cocky. Cool

The best part about the game this year is we donít have to drive all the way over to your place.

I think the game will come down to which D can get stops. Harrison D is very suspect against the run. Smallish and fly around but do give up running yards. Not a good formula against E. Likewise I see Edgewoods D being a little suspect against the pass, and have not seen the overall team speed that Harrison possesses. If I had money to bet I would still take Edgewood in this game, but I think this will be a very good game to watch with multiple big plays. Edgewood by 10 is my pick.

Also, I disagree that the SWOC is a weak football conference. I think the SWOC is actually a pretty good football conference. We usually get 2 or 3 teams in the postseason out of seven teams which is pretty darn good if you ask me. We're still looking for a team to get over the hump in the postseason but let's be honest, a lot of our postseason struggles have been due to playing LaSalle in the first or second of the playoffs when LaSalle had the best teams in the history of their school. You have to play who you draw in the playoffs but our teams haven't had the best of luck in that draw. Harrison has won playoff games in the SWOC, Mt. Healthy has, and I believe Edgewood has as well.

I never said it mattered. It was brought up earlier that Harrison was the biggest school in the conference and I was simply showing that it isn't close to being true. We do the best we can with what we have but a few key injuries for a school our size really takes its toll. That is true for any team in our conference.

According to the OHSAA website there is a 700+ student differential between the largest D1 school and the smallest. Factoring in the CB it becomes more than 800+. A huge discrepancy.

Uh yeah really bad for a lot of schools. Have no chance in football. The exception this year is Hoban. Not really a D2 team, but an all-star Akron team who is probably the best team in the state regardless of division.
