2018 Junior World Team Trials- men's freestyle

Junior WTT starts at like 11, here's a quick look at the weights:

57kg: Courtney sitting in the finals, Heinselman-Decatur looks like the finals match to meet him, although Bianchi-Decatur could be good in the semis. Gimme Courtney over Decatur for this spot

61kg: Josh Saunders-Vito Arujau probably in the finals to face Austin Gomez, I'll take Gomez over Vito

65kg: Awesome weight. Verkleeren, Nick Lee, Chad Red, Kanen Storr, Kaden Gfeller, Sammy Sasso, Andrew Alirez all fighting it out to take on Dom Demas. I'm taking Nick Lee from the top half and Kaden Gfeller from the bottom, with Gfeller beating Demas (this is stupid I don't know who to pick).

70kg: Another awesome weight. Carr-Teemer in the semis probably, I'm taking the winner there to lose to O'Connor in the best 2 of 3.

74kg: Wittlake-Marinelli probably in the finals here to wrestle Jeremiah Moody, I think Marinelli is the rep here.

79kg: I think the Labriola-Hidlay semis winner goes on to get beat down by Aaron Brooks in the finals. Kid is amazing, watch him if you can.

86kg: Who knows. Whoever we send here won't do anything at Worlds, so I'll take Embree to come out and lose to Louis Deprez

92kg: Borst-Raschka I think is the finals to meet Warner, where the Iowa wrestler gets it done.

97kg: Four man bracket because nobody wants to wrestle Kerkvliet. He beats Elam in a rematch here.

125kg: I'm sure everyone's heart sank a little when Gable Steveson registered. Poor Gannon Gremmel

You know, I always forget he's an Ohio state commit because I just always expected him to stay in state. Also he just got beat by Max Murin, who may be a solution for Iowa at 141lbs.

70kg: Berge vs O'Conner will be good
74kg: Marinelli let me down, neither Lewis or Moody are world threats.

Not sure what was wrong with Vitali in Vegas, but he was way off. That’s more like what I expect from him. I expect Gable, Kerkvliet, Warner, and Brooks to all roll and think all 4 will medal.

Notes!:

- At 57kg, Daton Fix still has an opportunity to request a special wrestle-off here, so Courtney's spot on the team isn't yet confirmed. If Fix makes the senior team, it is believed he will not compete in Juniors (so Brandon Courtney is a huge Daton Fix fan for a bit).

- Good bit of experience on this team, but not as much as last year. Gable (and Daton) return to Junior worlds, Kerkvliet, Brooks, and Warner all have medals at the Cadet level, and Gomez and Berge have been on Cadet teams before. Demas has also wrestled at Juniors, at least in Greco. That's 8/10 guys (all but Lewis and DePrez) who have age level world experience (last year was 7/8, but the one guy who didn't was Deakin, who took home a silver medal).

- I think this team is pretty good, especially at upper weights. Brooks, Warner, Kerkvliet, and Gable will all do well at what I think will be weaker Junior weights. Daton and Gable will be looking to repeat, and I'm interested to see what someone like Gomez does here.

Think how much better this team would be with Spencer Lee, Daton Fix, and Yianni.

That's a world championship team. And like four gold medals.
