Queen City Loses the Showboat Majestic

Cincinnati first lost the Delta Queen (the last overnight steamboat) and now the Showboat Majestic (the last purpose built showboat). I am glad the Lindners and then Castillini kept then Reds in Cincinnati but it seems like these two icons of the Queen City and its river heritage were worth keeping here as well.

Our loss is Adam County's gain.

No, not "because" but it was a quaint venue to see a play. It was also historic and tied the city to the river that gave it life.

In the past couple years I have seen plays on Broadway in NYC, Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park, Shakespeare Company, Incline Theater, the Covedale Performing Arts Center and Seton/Elder High School. The Majestic was a nice departure from the usual theater experience. That theater series has basically moved to the Covedale Performing Arts Center due to the City jerking Tim Perrino's production company around at the "Public Landing" which is not very "public" these days. That was a win for my neighborhood but a loss to the City as a whole.

Anyway, even though it has been closed for five or so years, I'll miss it.
