One more win would be sweet, not a fan of playing someone three times during the season.

Have to agree, having one entire league in the same district is silly. I'd have to wonder how many other districts are this way? If for nothing else the voting is skewed, just ask Dover.

Remember he's just a sophomore and is still improving all of the time. He wants to help the team as much as anyone. He's way better than I was at his age and is way better than I am at my age!

Always keep the faith!

Go Bulldogs!

Tough loss for the Bulldogs tonight. They played well enough to win, but also made some big mistakes that allowed Jackson to get the W.

Best of luck to the seniors. Thanks for enduring the consolidation of schools and coaching changes during your tenure. You are leaving the program better than it was when you arrived.

To the kids coming back, remember that feeling and work hard in the off-season.

Great effort tonight, but the Bulldogs were very, very unlucky to fall short by 1 to end the season

Next year most of the team returns in what should be a year of getting even with the Bears and the rest of 'em. GlenOak and McKinley will be the top two favorites in the league going in as both had lots of very young, talented underclassmen. Both return nearly all of the starters.

Always keep the faith!

Go Bulldogs!

None of these kids were part of the consolidation, but they did have to fight through other adversity just the same. Better days ahead.

The merger occurred in August of 2015. So, if they played all four years, the seniors were freshman the year of the merger. No?

They were freshmen the first year of the new consolidated school, but none of them or their classmates ever part ofTimken. But I do now see what you are saying, although any residue wasn't realistically anything for which they had to adjust. Kids move on quickly these days. Since the freshman academy is @ the downrown campus, they only spent 2 of their 4 years @ 17th St.with any kids who had attended Timken, and those kids had already assimilated as they were only Timken kids 1 or 2 years at most. There really wasnt a consolidation issue of any significance by the time current seniors were sophomores tbh.

You certainly aren't going to get any breaks playing at Jax so you can't leave the game that close. But the kids played hard and like kids do, made a couple errors that left the game closer than it should have been.

Young, talented nucleus returns. Future looks bright if they stay together and work hard.

Don't leave Hoover out of the equation. #4 seed this year with no Seniors on the team.

League champ Green has one Senior. Granted probably league MVP, cupboard hardly empty.

Lake with 5 Sophomore's on the roster.

Jackson is Jackson.

Right now I would rank Hoover and GlenOak ahead of McKinley as favorites to win the District next year. JMO.

Of course, anytime you talk about a teams future, you have to qualify it with, "assuming everyone stays where they are."

I think Jackson was league champ, weren't they? McKinley and Jackson both beat Green at the end of the league season. Green will be good with their coach and Martin's brother filling his void.

Jackson will be athletically challenged next year, but they have a really good coach and get most of the calls for some reason.

McKinley easily handled Hoover both games, and it's a game of matchups. So no, McKinley over Hoover.

Glenoak should be the team to beat because they have a talented, deep and very tall team with excellent quickness. It's hard to say just how tall they will be next year. A 6-6 freshman could be 6-10 or taller in the next year or two. McKinley should be much better next year, too, provided everyone stays and plays that can as you've mentioned. Perry could be a spoiler as well.

It's fun but treacherous to speculate, and we'll have to wait a year to find out. I'll stick with McKinley and Glenoak with a pack just behind. I just think their athletes will improve at a higher rate by next year imho. McKinley's reserve team won nearly all of their games and has some nice talent coming up.

McKinley and Glenoak have the top two girl's teams this year and both are in the regionals with solid chances to win state. Two years from now, it could be the boys from both schools contending for state,

Go Bulldogs!

Always, always keep the faith!

Canton McKinley's streak of having made the state tournament in every decade since the OHSAA started it in 1923 has ended. The winningest program in Ohio history, and the most frequent visitor to the state tournament by far with 28 appearances, failed to qualify for the state from 2010-2019.

Portsmouth failed to qualify for the state from 1950-1959 and 2000-2009. McKinley and Portsmouth are the top two schools in reaching the state tournament in the most decades. Portsmouth has made 15 state appearances, the most recent being in 2011 and 2012, both in D3.
