Bulldogs prevail late over Waynedale

It was hard and tight running for Dalton Friday night but Gavin Hackett found a way through the Golden Bears’ defense and into the end zone with just over a minute left to give the Bulldogs a 34-28 win in their Wayne County Athletic League opener against the Waynedale Golden Bears.

Shortly after, Garret Raff intercepted his second pass of the game, this one in the red zone, to kill the Bears’ potential game-winning drive and seal the victory for Dalton, which improved to 4-0 this season.

“It was a great game,” Dalton coach Bob Ramsay said. “It’s great to be 4-0 and it’s where we hoped we would be at this point in the season.”
