Logan Stieber Retires

Per FloWrestling and Logan's Instagram, Logan Stieber has retired from international wrestling. Logan goes out a 4x Ohio State champ (one career loss, to David Taylor), 4x NCAA Champ, 3x US World Team Member, and a World Champ in 2016. Logan's also a Junior world silver medalist and a 2018 Pan Am champ. Logan also won a state team title at Monroeville, an NCAA team title with Ohio St, and a freestyle world team title with Team USA.

Logan's on the short list of greatest Ohio wrestlers ever. Congrats to him on a great career. Please post memories/moments about Logan, he deserves the praise.

I think the big question is, what does he do nextt? tOSU seems to have a full staff and I don’t see him transitioning to MMA.

Logan Stieber Retires

Two weeks ago at the RTC, he took the time to be my 16 year old sons drilling partner when there were uneven numbers. A common trait among wrestlers is to give back and do what you can to make other guys better, even if they canít make you better. This moment showed me about the kind of man he is. He could have easily just waved my kid off and said jump in and make a group of three. Proud to say heís a Buckeye and I often use him as the example to my guys at our small D3 program. Donít have to go to Edís or Graham to be the best in the world. Good luck to Logan in the next chapter of his life. Thanks for all you did for our sport.

My favorite high school fact about Logan is that in 4 years at the state tournament he NEVER had a match go the distance. He won every match at the state tournament for all 4 years by pin or tech.

Not sure if anyone else has ever done that.

9 pins and 7 tech falls. All pins in the first period. Most points against was 20-5 margin.

And you have to believe that all 5 of those points were kicks.

I think my lasting Stieber memory is going to be that World championship in 2016. For a year several people had said Stieber should cut to 61kg, and he got his chance after he missed the Olympic team and they announced a separate world championship a couple months later.

Stieber beat Shuptar (world bronze the last year), Chakaev (2x world bronze since then), Ehsanpoor (previous junior world champ) and Lomtadze (quality guy at 61kg). It was a who's who of guys who had never medaled before, and Stieber beat them all, putting up 10, 13, 9, and 8 points in his matches.

When he was on, he was tough to beat (beat Olympic medalists Ramonov and Aliev in his career). Gonna miss the offense.
