Bearcats sink Commodores 42-0

Now one would think that having a national radio show throw you a pep rally which would be heard in 35 states would be a good thing.....not if you are the Perry Commodores it isnt.

After being on the Steve & Dc syndicated radio show, and bragging what they would do to the visitors from Spencerville, Perry did not come out swinging in this battle of nwc foes.

Spencerville came out in the first quarter trying to prove that you do not go on the radio and talk smack about them, and they did just that, with Senior Running Back Joel Lee scoring on an 18 yard dive play, and then adding the seventh point with a successful extra point kick himself. That was not Spencerville's only score in the quarter, as just a few minutes later, Spencerville Wide Reciever Tyler McMichael caught a pass from Quarterback Cody Bell, and took it 17 yards for the score to make it 13-0 before Z-back Cory Hobbs ran it in for two to up the score to make it 15-0 Bearcats after one.

Perry still could not get it going in the second quarter as they once again allowed Lee into the endzone, this time from 1 yard out. Lee split the uprights with the extra point to up the Cat advantage to 22-0. After another one of 5 Perry punts, the Bearcats scored again as fullback Eli Waltz got into the act from 3 yards out, and Lee added another point to advance the blowout to 29-0 at the half.

Things got no better for the Commodores after the break as the Bearcats continued their onslaught and came out fired up. Jordan Zimmerman wanted to break into the scoring column when he took a handoff, and that he did......he broke a 32 yard run which was complimented by another Lee PAT to make it 36-0 Cats. The final Bearcat score came near the end of the third quarter as Junior Tight End David Merriman punched one in from nine yards to make it 42-0 when the PAT failed to find the uprights.

When the final quarter came around, all of the Cat starters were hanging around on the bench as the reserves and JV came into kill the clock and mop up. Spencerville continued to pound the ball and add to their 342 rushing yards and to eat up the clock and head home. When the game was over, the Bearcats had made the Commodores eat their words as they headed to the buses with a 42-0 win to improve to 2-1 overall, and 2-0 in the nwc, and drop Perry to 0-3, 0-2.
