285 probably best of three

220 as weak as 195 last year

In terms of what context? National? Overall Ohio? Specific division?

I'd offer some thoughts upon being told for what context.

I'd agree that HWTs are stronger this year than last. I'd also agree that 220 will not be as strong.

195 will depend a lot of whether Pfarr (Marysville) wrestles there.

My 2 cents.

Weak?

220 is weak? In what division are you talkin about you have a stud in that weight at division 2. Rutherford. There are also a few other good wrestlers that are in that weight also. But Rutherford is a beast and will destroy a lot of heavy weights as 195's and there are 220's that would take out those weights also. So I don't see where there weak?

I would consider a weight class weak if there are only a couple of top wrestlers. If the weight class is 4 to 6 deep or more with studs it's not weak. However, the upper weights typically don't go as deep with 2nd and/or 3rd tier kids as most of the lighter and middle weights. Typically a big drop off in talent rather quickly. JMO

Its all personal opinion, but my take is along the lines of Ohiowrestler’s. Its relative year to year, but I consider a weight class “weak” if there are 1 or 2 guys at the top (Or even 3-4) and then a bunch of also-rans. I view a division as “strong”, when there are a dozen or more who could win it. Last year I thought HWT was generally weak (at the DI level at least) and 220/95 were a lot stronger (deeper, more broad talent). At least that is my opinion.

The big guys I watched at the Ironman were not weak, Boner Perrysville, Pharr Marysville- Thornberry Moelller, Millin Perry, Knapp St Eds, Brennock Loveland, Maylor Perry and Roberts who just beat Morgan-Cunninghan the OH No 2 @ NC tourney.

Don't forget Scales, beat 2 Flo ranked guys, and gave the #4 a tight match in the finals losing 3-2.

If Pharr stays at 220 and Millin and Jewell both stay down there, the Big School 220 division just got a whole lot stronger than forecasted.
