Sholud be interesting to see if any one can touch griffin.
I agree totally that OAC division II 58/61/65 will be hammered out next year as there are a ton of studs returning from the young side. The real question becomes what weight class all these hammers end up in? As of now, the sledgehammers are Julien Griffith and Carter Neves. If those two end up in the same weight class they will meet in the finals (assuming they are seperated). The other hammers that will be on the old side will be Max Hermes, Logan Montoya, both Shamblin bros (Hunter & Hudson), Jack Lee, Kamden Hughes, Eugene Harney, Sterling Segal, & Nicholas Humphrys (I'm sure there are a couple I am forgetting sorry) The interesting thing to watch will be who are the hammers coming into the young side of DII. I know Devin Farley will be able to compete and so will Bryson Early if he's this big but the unknowns and those whose "light goes on" during the next year will be something to watch for. I know that if you make the podium in DII in any of those 3 weights listed above next year then you are a bad little dude!

Madmex64 seems like you have a good understanding of thses young studs, thanks for the insight that you have provided it is good to hear about the young wrestlers in Ohio. Sounds like Griffith and Neeves could meet at some point next year and that could be a true battle as they both seem to be the top of their age groups.

That is my only complaint for the whole day, nearly 2 hrs to go through the awards procession (from getting the finalized brackets to the area, to announcing the division/weight, to getting the 8 kids there, to getting them in line, to getting the pictures/awards handed out, etc).

They need a way to streamline that instead of that back corner, it was a huge bottleneck.

Other than that the day went very well, never more than an hour between rounds. The tournament/wrestling part of it was VERY well ran.
you must have had a small bracket lol myson wrestled at 830 won and didnt wrestle again till 115 IN saying that we had 44 man bracket plus 2 other weight classes on our mat. DONT CARE great tourney GREAT REFS HAD A BLAST Really fun time wrestling the best from around the country. We watched school bor 126 OMG they were amazing that was a great class to watch. HOPE TO BE THERE NEXT YEAR

Had 40 in his bracket; but only 2 brackets at our mat made it go faster.

Not too many years ago this thread would have been very negative.
Awesome to see the Ohio numbers improve and people getting behind this one of a kind in the WORLD 'meatgrinder' of a tourney.
It was disheartening at times to hear kids/parents from states all over the U.S. talk so highly of TOC and Ohio didn't bother to bring their best.
Nice Job Bart. Nice job TOC. Nice job Ohio.

Congratulations, you just brought the first negative comment to this thread. Who are you to make the comment that Ohio did not bring their best. That is a slap in the face to those that did attend.

Further, no kid is obligated to wrestle in any tourney just because some overzealous fan feels Ohio should have their "best" at every event. I find it disheartening that someone feels differently.

He was talking about in the past and he even said 'congratulations' on Ohio starting to do much better with more top talent from Ohio showing up.

And....away we go.

Nothing negative in my post. Nothing.
I've coached/wrestled for/with Ohio teams from NJ to Utah. I've talked to and spent time with parents and coaches from all over. Although not an expert on anything...I have personal experience to speak on/about TOC. If you think my comments are wrong or misleading I encourage you to ask the TOC director directly.

I have been/am aware who Ohio's best were/are. I had to be. It was in my best interest to know. No, "slap in the face" to anyone.

Your last paragraph needs no rebuttle. It stand's alone as nonsensical.

Apologies to all about how this thread turned. You all, minus one obviously "get" that it was only my intention to give props to the wrestlers, the tourney and Ohio.

Back to the thread.

Thanks,

MIKE PHILLIPS aka MPhillips

I read nothing wrong. IMO it will be awhile before they wrestle in High School. Just stirring the pot but I stand by my post. Look for good things from that Brainard kid from Mogadore that goes to CVCA!! District Qualifier at 106 and wrestles 85 lbs this weekend? Those other kid that finished ahead of hims I will start watching!

Elk7, You took his post wrong. I re-read it twice to make sure what I was posting about. It wasn't him who made the comment that Ohio did not send their best, he was just relaying what he heard.

Dang dude,,,,, Don't kill the messenger .
