Article: Beavercreek Wins Share of GWOC Central Title with 11-0 Victory over Faimont

This game was a battle of defenses on another rainy Friday night. As the rain pounded down and the wind blew hard, Beavercreek and Fairmont struggled to get their offenses going. The weather played right into Beavercreek's hands though as their run heavy option offense contrasted with Fairmont's pass happy attack. In the end, Fairmont's 5 turnovers to none for Beavercreek, combined with their inability to run the ball, proved to be the difference in the game.

As usual, Fairmont came out hard outplaying Beavercreek for most of the first half. However, the Firebirds were unable to convert in the red zone, and the Beavers went into the half with a 3-0 lead courtesy of a Kyle Petering 38 yd field goal. Fairmont did have a chance to tie it in the final seconds of the first half, but Tom West's field goal attempt was blocked.

In spite of stellar defensive play by Fairmont, turnovers resulting in excellent field position for Beavercreek eventually resulted in a 1 yd touchdown run by Micheal Berry late in the 3rd quarter. Berry also ran in the 2 pt conversion to make the score 11-0. And that's how the score would stand.
