Moe Dude..... Great to hear from you!!! Congrats on your preseason rankings. Looks like coach has one heck of a team over there on Montgomery Rd!!
As for BluBalls94..... At La Salle & WLSN, we choose not to engage in remedial conversations. We leave that for teenagers and children.
GO La Salle! If not La Salle, GO GCL!!
Nobody has a sense of humor in here. What a bunch of squares. BORING! I hope LaSalle does well this year, for real. They had me all psyched up in 2010.
Grippa brought up Jordan Thompson to Varsity as a Freshman last year. Are there any Freshman or Sophomores that have a legit shot to play Varsity this year? If so, who are they?
I saw him a few weeks ago working out and he is really getting big. I know he was high on Coach Coombs board when he was at UC...hopefully he takes care of him in Columbus.
csg - that lineman has a lot going for him - size, experience and family who have played at the top to give him the map
BR - soph players mentioned by Grippa were Thompson and Ferguson... there are several other sophs who will be fighting for a spot as well..
Tom, what's the lineman's name? Is that the son of the alum that played pro ball? can't think of his name off the top of my head.. it'll come to me but some help would be appreciated
"Can someone else help with depth chart? Is Wilcox the starter ahead of Ferguson?"
Willcox is going to start at the F position. Fergie is going to play the H on varsity at some point. Jason Bell is currently #1 on the depth chart at the H.
Besides Thompson, what other Soph's are pushing to start other than linemen? I know of none.
liked what i saw last night at 7 on 7's.. athletic receivers and defense was quick. 4 sophmores- thompson, ferguson, junker and collins - anyone seen these guys play? and is the new coach on defense Meadows?
Meadows has helped with the DB's for several years now - not sure it was in an official coaching capacity. I was told he will be on staff and working on JV as well.
Of the 4 soph's you listed, only Thompson will start. Fergie may end the season as the starting H but it is Bell for now. Collins at backup Y but not pushing Walsh at all for starting spot. Junker on D may get some time but definitely not start.
3 key people were not at the 7on7 this week. Burkhart at QB, Bouldin at DB, and Sparks at LB. The offense should look even better with Brad with the 1's and Meyer with the 2's rather than Tank and Spears!

Anybody know anything about the JV team? They have their first game against Lakota West JV who went 10 - 0 last year as freshman convincingly every game how do we stack up on JV this year

LaSalle JV success will be greatly affected by the number of sophomore linemen moved to Varsity due to lack of size in the Jr. and Sr. classes. Additionally, what could help the JV squad is the number and quality of the "skilled" Juniors that play down.
If the LW frosh were as dominant as you say, some of those "studs" will probably be playing Varsity this year. So their JV may not fair as well as that class did last year as freshmen
You can get an apples to apples comparison with Freshmen and Varsity. I don't think you'll ever get an apples to apples with the JV...it's a different animal and really who cares? At some point, it has to translate to success at the Varsity level.

Really who cares… Those of us that are parents of kids on the JV team that's who.... West did not have a good team last year and it would be reasonable to assume that the better sophomores will be on the varsity depending on transfers that might come into West Guess we'll find out in five weeks

Right, I know the JV parents care...wasn't trying to be flip...but honestly if you talk to most Varsity coaches...they really only care about the Varsity. I should have given some context (Varsity coaches perspective) around that comment.
As you stated, Burkhart is the man. That leaves Tre Thompson and Jake Meyer left to take the backup role. Would Grippa have Meyer play JV this year to gain more game experience for next year? He had Pfeister play JV his Jr. year. That philosophy definitely helped Walsh for this year as he is starting at the Y.
