8 feet of space is both good and bad, bad for the players and sideline officials, but great for those fans in the low rows.

Big Red Stadium one of the best high school stadiums in the state.

The Steubenville football mothers do feed the visiting team after the game. And the visitors' side is not the worst in the world. You're making exaggerations that are not truthful.

It is a great sideline for the fans, but if you are playing on the visiting team it is terrible! This is no exaggeration at all. We have played there several times, and the sideline space is so narrow, that the visiting cheerleaders have to cheer behind the endzone. Also no food was provided any of the times that we have been up there, but that perk may have been declined by the coach.

Give 'em the championship. With that amount of talent, they will be untouchable, just like in the recruiting wars of Akron and with the APS admin. Ricky! Ricky! Ricky!! HEck, Obama needs to kick that whitey out as his Veep and get Ricky!!! I can already see it i=on the campaign signs:

"Obama- Powers 2012!!!!"

with the slogan reading,

"Fight the Powers!"

Who's your team? im sure they have a shot right? (probably not) My only reasoning to why Buchtel is constantly being brought up by someone who obviously isnt a Buchtel fan. Lets hear about your team

I think it will be a nice season in the city. I'm curious to see how Kenmore responds to last year. Firestone and Buchtel will have plenty of playmakers. East and North have to be better. Ellet, will miss Male more than anyother school will miss a player that left.

Ferrell, I like your list. Add to it DE - Brennan Williams from Firestone. A junior this year he will be in his third year as a starter and at 6'3" and 250 or so he is one of their fastest guys. He impressed me last year in Firestone's game with Garfield.

Does Jerome Lane even play Linebacker? He's a runningback.

I thought Davis was very good last year, considering his age.

If he doesn't play linebacker he should - or DE. He is the kind of kid who should be on both sides of the ball. With FHS having decent depth at RB he should play some D. He is the kind of guy who could get to the QB quick and swat down some passes at the LOS.

So what I am reading Kenmore's defensive line is the real deal? Who will they be playing in their non-conference games? I believe they head south to Stark County. Will they be able to play with the teams from there?

That's not relevant. I saw Firestone quite a few times last year and never once did I see him on the Defensive side of the ball so how does he make the list. He maybe a great LB/DE or he may not. I would argue that Moore from Kenmore should top that list not a kid who hasn't played the spot.

Kenmore plays Parma Normandy, Norton & Green - all on the road. Does anyone know if the goose poop problems from last year @ Cardinal Stadium have been resolved?

Lane played some defense last year(he excelled when on defense). He didn't start at running back until Shaw got hurt. Kenmore's d-line was good last year, but their skill players left a lot to be desired. I am curious to see the Norton quarterback, who transferred to Firestone(is Flossie gonna call Joe Howard on himself?), play with talent around him and against better competition

I missed that because last year I was at all Firestone games. Did not see Lane on defense. I was upset because I felt that these guys should have the opportunity to go both ways. Firestone acted like they were good enough to almost go two platoon and thats why Buchtel put 43 points on them. He started at tailback when Stone(Sophomore at the time) was unproductive also. In my opinion, Lane is a better back than Shaw. It is interesting that a kid can rarely play defense and get offers. I guess the scouts are looking at his size and height.

Good competition is needed. The way I see it the better the city teams are the more it prepares us all for possible playoff births. Iron sharpens iron. Thats why I always root for the city teams to get at least 1 or 2 games outside the city!

I think alot of Firestone playing 1 way players had to do with playing so many sophmores. Lane also missed his sophmore year and that may have had alot to do with his slow start last year. Kid is a great athlete.

As far as that game, all credit to Buchtel, it had nothing to do with two platoon players and alot to do with a couple Falcons falling apart on the field and Buchtel (as they do so well) jumping all over that.

The crack about the Norton quaterback was a sarcastic joke. I know he has been cleared..... I, also don't understand why some of these kids don't go both ways. It hurts the team as well the kids(recruiting wise) when trying to show their versitility. Lane is the perfect example of this. He isn't going to play any offense at the next level, but i've only seen him on defense three times. What has helped him get recruited as a linebacker, is the fact that he has been to several camps and displayed great atheliticism

I give Buchtel credit for a good game, I am an old school player and coach and the best 11 play on offense and the best 11 on defense. It may also increase a kid chance to play college ball. I been around football over 30 years and played that way. I know times have changed, just my opinion.

I think you'll see a difference this year at Firestone simply because they will be much older. They started 3 freshmen and multiple sophmores last year. I maybe wrong but players like Lane, Rodgers, and Williams have to be on the field for the falcons the max they can be. I agree with you EZ, if your really a player - you're offended if you are taken off the field - Offense or Defense.

That's how they get that zing in the flavor. I once thought it was mustard but I found out otherwise.

YEs, it is goose poo pulverized to a fine powder mixed in with sweat from the Kenmore band mom's sweaty doo-rag that makes the Kenmore Koney the hot item it is in the fall.

Listen, the job of these coaches is to win games, not worry about what will hurt or help a kid's chances at getting a scholarship will be. I have a hard time believing, and have never seen a coach sit around when designing a game plan or a scheme and saying, "Well, you know, Joe is a heck of a running back, but he probably won't play there next year in college, so let's throw him out there at Strong safety and give the college scouts some additional footage of him on that side of the ball. It will make him more marketable. I don't care if he gets tired by being out there both ways, especially early in the season when it is typically in the mid-80s on game nights, because winning the game doesn't matter, it is about marketing these players to the colleges and getting them theirs!"

Wow. 15-18 year old kids getting tired, get real. I played both ways in High School and did not regret it! If APS Coaches were so concerned with winning as Stain put it, they have a weird way of showing it. If a kid is good enough to be looked at by colleges at the changed position, guess what, he is probably helping his High School team be better.
Coaches will put players where they see fit. I just said that the best 11 should be on the field on both sides of the ball when the need is so obvious. It would be ideal to have enough kids to avoid that, but in APS the talent pool is thin with all of these High Schools.
