Yes, they like to play catch the entire game. Their coach, Malbasa who previously was at Elyria Catholic loves that style. Last year they beat a pretty good Boardman team running up around 30 points on them.

Truth.....

Malbassa even looks like the "Mad Pirate Genius".....that "ol O-Co-ordinator......originally at Kentucky.....then recruited by Bob Stoops to Oklahoma .....(where they won a National BSC Title....then he took a job at Texas Tech.......did a pretty nice job there.)

Malbassa.....is the High School equal of MIKE LEACH!!!!!!

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...eeps-on-giving

They even look like one another, although I'm sure they have never met.

This post is meant to be a credit to Coach Malbassa and Benes'.

Malbassa is hard to defense.

Keeping defenses guessing......using your speed.....(using your 5 ....11 FLAT Hundred meters guys ......all on the field at the same time......what a "novel" idea!!!!

Does anybody know who Big Red's qb will be? I've heard stories, but I don't believe them. I realize it may be too early to make that determination. What does everybody else think?

Not as much a Leach type spread because Malbasa does feature a RB a little more and has a stack I package for the goal line.

Thanks for the clarification. Auggie knows Benedictine football.

Malbassa is the right guy, at the right the place, at the right time IMO.

Good for you guys.

I am afraid as a rival....in the next few years' to come.....if he is given time......

Best of luck to Benedictine. I don't think they'll need luck though. They got the right guy.

I hope Mooney can keep up with the 24/7 effort that HE , Malbassa brings 24/7/365.

Us Mooney faithful/alumni are trying our best to keep up with that "energy" level Malbassa brings.

Again, good for you guys.

When Reno ultimately retires, who is going to take his place? Is there someone lined up? The name I keep hearing is Todd Filtz.

Filtz is RENO on steroids...... Reno a 24/7 guy.....a Hall of Famer.

Filtz is Reno X 2.......bad news for other D3/D4 coaches...

No one will outwork this kid.

Of course, a lot will depend on what happens at McKinley. If Filtz doesn't win a state championship, then maybe no one will want him. And if he does win the championship, McKinley may throw so much at him that he won't be able to leave.

Filtz is a proven commodity. He can win anywhere with "proper" support and minimal (talent). He'll do well at McKinley (they have MAXIMAL Talent).

McKinley is a destination location school (job) for any coach who wants to be great.

But any alumnus.....will never pass up the opportunity to coach his/her alma mater. Filtz.......will find his way back to "big red". And all D3/D4 FB coaches,.... Principals.... and Athletic Directors.... throughout OHIO.......may want to take notice.....

Steubenville will have the "next RENO"....who works 24/7/365.....to keep "big red" great....with Steubenville guys as assistants.

.....it could be another great 30 year "run" for the "people on the River".

Steuby may have a year or two of struggles while Stilz is still living in Canton and if Reno retires a year early.........(that's just a scheduling "issue"......by the Steubenville Board of Education....)

But that is just a blip on the radar screen.

Filtz is "the guy" for McKinley NOW....and will be Steubys" saviour" (sp??).....3-5 years from now.
